Amsterdam Ale House Introduce
Located in the heart of the Upper West Side, the Amsterdam Ale House stands out as a quintessential New York bar and grill. This lively and inviting establishment, situated on Amsterdam Avenue, is much more than just a place for a drink; it’s a community hub where friends gather, families enjoy a meal, and sports fans unite to catch the big game. With its casual, cozy, and trendy atmosphere, the Ale House strikes the perfect balance between a comfortable neighborhood bar and a high-energy sports destination. It's a place that prides itself on providing excellent service, a vast selection of beverages, and a menu of American comfort food that truly hits the spot. Whether you're in the mood for a classic burger, some mouth-watering wings, or a craft beer from their extensive list, Amsterdam Ale House is a go-to spot for a guaranteed good time.
The reputation of Amsterdam Ale House is built on its consistent quality and welcoming environment. As one reviewer noted, the place is "always packed but table service or bar service is always excellent. They treat you right." This commitment to top-notch service ensures that even on the busiest nights, every customer feels valued. The food and drink offerings are a major draw. The burgers are described as "great," the wings as "big and bountiful," and the drinks as "really good." While some might find the menu a bit limited in certain areas, the dishes they do well, they do exceptionally well. The bar's atmosphere is a key component of its appeal. It has a genuine "neighborhood feel" that makes it a comfortable spot for regulars and newcomers alike. It's a place where you can relax, be yourself, and enjoy a great meal and a drink without any pretense.
However, it is worth noting that the Ale House takes its sports bar identity seriously. One customer mentioned that the bar is "dogmatic about their TVs and inflexible to the requests of their patrons." While this might be a point of contention for some, for dedicated sports fans, this is a major highlight. The bar's unwavering commitment to showing specific games means you'll always find a crowd of enthusiastic fans ready to cheer on their favorite teams. This focus on sports creates a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that is perfect for groups and makes it a premier destination for watching major games. The bar's ambiance is a unique blend of a cozy neighborhood hangout and an exciting sports viewing destination, which is a major part of its character and charm.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is always packed but table service or bar service is always excellent. They treat you right. The wings are big and bountiful. The burgers are great and really good drinks. I wasn’t impressed with the quesadillas though. Not enough filling.
January 26 · Alex RodriguezThis bar has surprisingly good food and a neighborhood feel. But they’re dogmatic about their TVs and inflexible to the requests of their patrons.Today is opening day for football and the US Open men’s final. Rather than allow patrons to watch both, they relegated tennis to the back room where that’s the only thing to watch. Even when it was clear no one was interested in certain football games (sorry Buccaneers/Falcons) they still refused to change the channel. “The TVS are set.” Might also explain why they’re half empty.
September 07 · Marisa WangThe service was excellent. Very friendly. Great beer selection. Probably one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had, and I lived in Los Angeles. Clearly some kind of pasta sauce with an inch layer of cheese. It was either cheese or crust. Couldn’t have both. Would come back to drink but definitely not to eat.
July 12 · B BVery busy, fairly unremarkable bar/restaurant that’s been around for many years. Decent drinks, beer and food. Bartenders not so communicative. Food was okay but not terrific. Three bathrooms, which was nice; no waiting. Asked to pay cash, but by the time I got back from the bathroom a different bartender had already swooped up and charged by credit card. Extra 3%. No big deal, but still…
May 30 · PhilYouInFirst time visiting New York and was pleased with the easy, welcoming and laid back nature of this place. Food was good, loved the nostalgic feel of the bar and the drinks was great. Nelson, are barkeep/bartender; was super attentive and great all around. If ever in Manhattan again, will be coming back to this spot.
