What is Worth Choosing
When exploring the menu at Bed-Stuy Fish Fry, there are several key dishes and categories that stand out, promising a true taste of their comfort-food and seafood focus.
The core of the menu naturally revolves around their seafood selections. For a classic, budget-friendly choice, the single piece of Whiting Fish is priced at $1.00, while the full All Fish Whiting plate is offered at $6.00. Beyond the basic fish fry, the offerings expand into more elaborate seafood rice bowls, such as the Old Bay Shrimp and Rice and the Shrimp with Broccoli and Rice, which blend shellfish with hearty, seasoned rice for a complete meal. Additionally, the menu features a selection of pasta dishes, suggesting a departure from strictly fried food. The Grilled Salmon and Pasta for $11.00 and the Shrimp and Salmon Alfredo for $12.00 represent richer, more decadent meal choices for seafood lovers. These items demonstrate the kitchen’s ability to prepare fish and shellfish in various styles, catering to different preferences.
While seafood is the star, the menu ensures variety for all diners. The Chicken options include the single piece of Chicken for $1.25 and Chicken Fingers for $5.50, providing simple, quick protein choices. Complementing the main dishes is a modest but important salad selection. For a light option, there is the House Salad for $3.00, and for a more substantial, protein-packed plate, the Salmon Salad is available for $5.00.
For New Yorkers, Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is a local fixture that provides a dependable source of classic, filling, and inexpensive meals. The value proposition of an 'All Fish Whiting' plate at $6.00 and a 'Grilled Salmon and Pasta' plate at $11.00 makes it highly attractive in the city’s often-expensive dining landscape. Furthermore, the inclusion of local specialty dishes ensures that patrons receive a genuine, neighborhood-driven dining experience.
It is important, however, for prospective diners to manage expectations regarding service and food quality consistency, as noted in some publicly shared customer reviews. Experiences have been mixed, citing significant wait times and occasional inconsistency in food preparation, such as dry salmon or hard rice. Despite this, the restaurant remains popular, and the general focus on well-loved dishes like their seafood plates, mac and cheese, candied yams, and oxtails (based on broader menu information not listed in the provided 'Food & drink Info' but often found in customer reviews and other online menus for the location) continues to draw a crowd. The enduring appeal of this Brooklyn institution rests in its delivery of comfort and local flavor, making it a trendy and lively spot to grab a bite in Downtown Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered the seafood fried rice for delivery through Uber eats and was disappointed in the extremely hour +30 minute long wait time for it to be delivered. The restaurant staff were not even aware of my order when I called in about it more would be willing to even help me. Their professionalism really sucks. The rice was hard and the vegetables were extremely squishy. To make matters worse, the lump of crab that they put in the center of the rice did not taste fresh at all. It taste like they use cheese to get the crab meat to stick. I give this entire meal, a one out of 10.
December 24 · MSalmon was dry and overcooked, green beans over cooked and mushy and the white rice was hard and mushy at the same time. This place is slowly falling off… and the workers aren’t very welcoming someone always has an attitude. I didn’t force you to work here. 0/10. Don’t recommend
April 20 · Chance GrahamI’m so disappointed looks are deceiving I was excited to finally try this place and the food looked really good….. But upon entering the staffs attitude already had me losing my appetite but I figured they just opened so maybe it’s too early. The look of the food was enticing but once I sat down to eat my $26 plate I was immediately disappointed. The blackened salmon was tasteless, Mac and cheese was okay. The biggest disappointment was the collard greens. They were awful tasted unwashed full of stems and uncut. I won’t visit again
November 13 · NyashaI use to come to this location here and there and the food use to be really great. I don’t know what’s going on but this location has gone downhill. The attitudes was always a problem but now the food is horrible. I ordered salmon(had no taste of seasoning whatsoever) Mac n cheese( too much black pepper) collard greens had no flavor and to make matters worse I ended up biting into a small piece of plastic. I was done done done. I’m so glad I didn’t order anything else. I do not recommend this location AT ALL. Spend your money elsewhere especially if you’re going to pay $25+ for a meal like I purchased. I’m sure you’ll find other businesses that have way better food without the negative energy and attitudes.
September 30 · Queen Virgo0711A joke. A literal and actual joke. Every person from brooklyn knows this location has multiple locations serving the same food and the quality of food is VASTLY different at every location. Nothing is ever consistent. Some days, they have no fish, despite being called bed stuy FISH fry. This day, we ordered pepper steak rasta pasta and all of the sauce was in the bag and not on the food. Ordered broccoli, received green beans. Ordered salmon fettuccine, received fettuccine, no salmon. A disgrace to soul food. Poor quality, lackluster service and a disappointment. Order here if you like wasting money.
