★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A hidden gem that exceeded all my expectations! I was honestly skeptical about coming here. I usually don’t consider LIC a go-to spot for truly great food. But I’m so glad I gave this place a chance. The fried calamari is an absolute must-have, the sauce combination blew me away. I nearly ordered a second plate, but I was too full to keep going! We sat at the back of the restaurant, and our waitress, Nan, was exceptional warm, polite, and genuinely enthusiastic. She helped us choose dishes and gave great recommendations, including a side dish with rice cakes that turned out to be phenomenal. The Vietnamese crepe is also a standout it’s hard to describe, but the flavor was unforgettable. And the grilled pork chop brought me straight back to the taste of home, tender, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.Every dish surprised me in the best way. If you’re hesitant like I was, don’t be, this place delivers.
July 12 · Stephy HsuI was brought here by some friends who live in the area and I was pleasantly impressed. I got the phone, which was probably one of the better balls I’ve had so far since New York City Vietnamese food New York City is always such a challenge so finding something that’s actually good is really enjoyable. I think I would just place before when it was a different restaurant. It looked very familiar. However, that has nothing to do with this review. I’ll go back. It was good
August 29 · Jack TuggleGreat vietnamese food. But the signature pho was just okay. Kind of small and lacking in the meats. The bun bo hue was excellent 👍.The signature is rather small and underwhelming compared to pho from Pho Best at Elmhurst. The broth was excellent and had this deep umami flavor. But there wasn't much meat. I did not see any tripe nor tendons. Only a few slices of beef. Was good but not great. Definitely smaller bowl than the bun bo hue.The bun bo hue was really good! The slightly sour and spicy broth was excellent. Good helping of pork knuckle meat and beef. The noodle were a bit soft but overall better than the pho.Salt and pepper squid was crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. Not oily and good portion to share for 2. The crepe, banh xeo, was flavorful and fresh with the herbs. Excellent appetizer to share. Also got the classic banh mi to go (not pictured). The pate and the ham were excellent and hearty. Good banh mi!Decor is nice. Chairs aren't too crowded. And service was prompt overall. Bathroom was clean. Food came fast and hot.
May 01 · Jackson MayRandomly stumbled upon this vietnamese restaurant and it was a pleasant surprise. The food tasted more authentic than many other Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in NYC area.We got calamari as an apertizer. The portion was large, calamari was well seasoned and have good crunch. Bún bò Huế was spicy, which I love. The bowl was full of meat and the broth was umami. Bún trộn gà xả was great, sweet and sour. The chicken was smoky and juicy. Bánh xèo was crunchy, dipping sauce was light and flavorful. The only thing is I wish they would cut up my bánh xèo like how it's usually served in Vietnam or at least provide a scissor because cutting bánh xèo with butter knife is just not it. Cocktails were great.Staffs were friendly, food was served quickly. The restaurant has a small entrance but the inside was more spacious than expected. There was a backyard with clear roof covering.Overall, highly recommended.
July 03 · Linh PhamWe were craving Vietnamese and wanted to try something different than the nearby Cyclo. While Chef Papa is not that close to the waterfront, the walk was worth it. Food is delicious, staff is nice and the building/restaurant is new, clean and nice. We really liked the fried salt and pepper squid. Vermicelli and Pho were good as well. Dragon fruit cocktail was amazing.
