Fulton Hot Dog King distinguishes itself through several key features and highlights that contribute to its local reputation and enduring popularity. While some reviews note minor details, the overall sentiment points to a few consistent strengths.
Legacy and Nostalgia: As a business that has been a part of the Brooklyn landscape for a long time, its reopening carried a lot of sentimental value for locals. It's more than just a place to get food; it's a familiar landmark and a connection to the neighborhood’s past. This historical context is a major feature that sets it apart from generic fast food chains.
Classic New York Flavors: The restaurant uses Sabrett hot dogs, a brand that is a staple of the New York hot dog experience. This choice signals an authenticity and commitment to classic flavors. While individual preferences on the "snap" of the dog may vary, the use of this well-known brand is a strong selling point for hot dog purists.
Reasonable Pricing: Even with the move and increased costs, the prices remain reasonable for the area. As noted in a review, $10 for two chili dogs is considered fair, and a sausage for just $3.50 is a great value. This affordability makes it an accessible option for a quick and satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
Variety of Menu Items: While hot dogs are the main draw, the menu’s variety is a highlight. The inclusion of knishes, beef patties, and different platters means customers have a choice beyond just a basic hot dog. The Chilli Cheese Sausage, with its good heat, is also a standout item that offers something a little different and exciting.
Outdoor Seating: The availability of outdoor seating is a significant feature, especially in a dense urban environment. It provides a comfortable space for customers to sit and enjoy their meal outside, which is a great option on a pleasant day. It elevates the experience beyond a simple grab-and-go counter.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place was on the corner at Fulton St forever and was forced to close. Saw the sign posted of their reopening and grabbed some work friends and headed over. Prices are a bit higher, but is expected as costs and location contribute greatly. We ordered chick dogs, mustard & sauerkraut, and with onions. The hotdogs were ok. They gave a cup for free fountain fruit punch which was so refreshing on the hot summer day. The hotdogs were ok- very small relative to the bun and toppings. $10 for 2 chili dogs so priced reasonably. They also have cold beers in the refrigerator and the regular sodas. Will go back to try the knishes and fries.
July 16 · nico h.This is a decent place, not nothing crazy. I’m a huge Hot Dog lover and seeing the Sabrett umbrellas outside immediately caught my attention. The staff was polite but a huge peeve of mine is when youPlace an order and the person accepting the money doesn’t tell you the total. I’m handing him a $10 bill and he just looks to take the money. I asked and he told me $6. Which for a store front isn’t a bad price to pay. The hot dogs were a little disappointing because they just didn’t seem to have the really good snap that you expect. It did have one, but it just wasn’t the normal “snap” that you get when you bite in. The bread was very basic. I’d rate the hot dog a 6.5-7 the max. I sent back in to give the sausage a try. I must say I was expecting to lay at least $5 but it was only $3.50. The sausage had some really good heat to it. The bread was just okay, would probably take this dog to another level is they put it on the grill for a minute or so. They accept card with a minimum of $6 purchase
November 27 · Ray CampbellDo yourself a favor and get a dog with everything! It’s delicious!!! I got the spicy sausage which might have been a bit too spicy to completely enjoy the meal but overall great. Amazing French fries but poor Turkey burgers.
October 08 · Juan CThe best hotdog I’ve had in a long time. I got a chili cheese dog with fries and a drink for $8, which was amazing. I highly recommend this cheap eats spot.
February 20 · J. “Dallas” YoungThe King Is Back!!!!!!!! I’ve been waiting for this neighborhood staple to come back since the landlord down the block at the original location them away from the people and I’m happy to say that everything we love about the Fulton Hot Dog King is back in this new location up the block
