Home Sweet Home Introduce
In the constantly evolving landscape of New York City nightlife, some spots manage to stand out by embracing a unique and unpretentious identity. Home Sweet Home, a beloved bar and music venue in the Lower East Side, is a perfect example. Located in a subterranean space on Chrystie Street, this establishment has been a staple since 2006, offering a welcoming, cozy atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the high-energy dance floor tucked in the back. It's a place that masterfully blends the charm of a neighborhood dive bar with the excitement of a full-fledged dance club, all without the long lines, pricey covers, or strict door policies often found in the city’s more exclusive venues.
Home Sweet Home is renowned for its eclectic and slightly quirky decor. As you descend into the bar, you're greeted by a space that feels like a forgotten den, adorned with an assortment of intriguing knickknacks and taxidermy. This isn't a sleek, minimalist spot; it's a place with character and personality, where the vibe is all about being casual and comfortable. Despite its unassuming exterior and interior design, it is a trendy destination for a diverse crowd of New Yorkers. The bar's reputation is built on its ability to provide a laid-back front room for chatting and enjoying a drink, while simultaneously offering a dynamic back room where people can let loose and dance the night away. It truly lives up to its name by feeling like a welcoming place to a wide variety of people.
The dual nature of Home Sweet Home is what makes it so appealing to groups. You can easily spend an entire evening here, starting with a relaxed cocktail during their happy hour and gradually moving towards the dance floor as the night progresses. The music is a key component of the experience, with a constant rotation of DJs and live performances that span a wide range of genres. This ensures that every night offers a unique soundtrack, whether you are a fan of rock, techno, or even goth and jungle music. The staff, known for being incredibly friendly and accommodating, adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making sure that both first-timers and regulars feel right at home.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I visited Home Sweet Home during the Procession Goth night which was a fun experience! The place has a really cool vibe, although the audio system is really bad on the dancefloor. The speakers near the front of the bar were great but not so great near the restrooms. The staff were very friendly and always available to grab a drink from.
April 21 · Sam Neil Paulat first, I came here for the ambience, the atmosphere and the wild crafted cocktails but after some time, I really realize I was here for the customer service. savon, my favorite bartender and Seamus the sexy sex symbol really made this experience the best ever and I will be returning also they had really nice sour candy that they shared with me 10 out of 10
September 04 · Bria BisonoI've been wanting to check out this place for while and finally went last night. There was kind of a boring, low effort looking crowd around the entrance. I probably should have done a 180 and went elsewhere, but curiosity overrode my judgement. I greeted the bouncer who immediately told me there was a private party. The only time I've been given the "private party" line (which is code for, you're not welcome here) was when I visited Spain and stopped at bar with a bunch of rowdy Brits. In that case, the bouncer made the right call. No one has ever had the audacity to tell me this in my hometown though. Nowhere ever. I guess I've been living a pretty charmed life. It was pretty novel and kinda funny, but disappointing nonetheless because I was hyped to listen to some good music, have some drinks, and maybe be able to dance for bit. I love to scope out new places to invite all my friends to, but I'll be crossing this place off the list. No biggie. This city is filled with hidden gems. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them.
June 14 · DemonsidekickMy favorite bar along Chrystie Street and one of the best bars in Manhattan hands down. Great crowds, variety of fantastic hip music! Live bands do perform every month. The selection of drinks are great from lagunitas to Hot Toddy’s, you will find your favorite drinks here, if you don’t see it, ask the bartenders and they’ll whip up your favorite! Great for couples and large groups! They have tables available. The atmosphere is dope with booming music and live DJ’s mixed with the disco ball and flashing lights, you can’t go wrong here, throw a birthday party and private events! Come on by Home Sweet Home 131 Chrystie Street and let’s have a party!!
