The atmosphere at Tropical Grille is designed to be **casual**, focusing entirely on the quality and accessibility of the food. It is best known for its "Turo-Turo" style of dining, a Tagalog term that translates to "point-point." Instead of ordering from a traditional printed menu, you simply point to the dishes you want, which are then quickly plated for you—a hallmark of authentic Filipino roadside and market dining.
This quick-service, visual style makes it a highly popular spot for **Lunch** and **Dinner**, especially for those seeking a **quick bite** or a satisfying serving of **comfort food**. The restaurant is highly regarded for offering delicious, home-style Filipino cooking, ensuring that every visit feels like a taste of tradition. Beyond the hot food counter, Tropical Grille provides an added dimension of service that elevates its local importance: it operates a **small grocery for Filipino food/pantry needs**, making it a vital hub for the local Filipino community and for adventurous food lovers seeking specific Asian ingredients.
The dual nature of Tropical Grille—part traditional restaurant and part specialty grocery—cements its role as a key player in the Nanuet food landscape, offering convenience, great food, and cultural connection all in one location.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 13.5Turo-turo style - point to the food you choose. $8.75 for a combo with rice and 2 dishes or 2 servings of same dish; addtl $ for beef. Price for combos is good and the food was ok. Portion for takeout is less though. Halo-halo $8 was plain, small amt of sweet ingredients and sago balls were hard (bec cups are prepped and kept in fridge); no flan or ice cream (wasn't given an option). Pay after eating.Small grocery for filipino food/pantry needs. Pricier than Queens.3 small tables inside and a couple outdoors. Restroom in the back.
July 23 · K VCIf you want Filipino foods, Best place to have lunch or dinner. Great prices and with mini grocery. Will be back here
May 29 · Dan “Dhans Gadget Shop” ToroTropical Grille is one of only two Filipino spots in Rockland County that pulls double duty—part grocery store, part takeout counter. So if you're craving Filipino food or need to grab some 555 and filipino spaghetti sauce, your choices are pretty slim. The convenience is great—you can get your sinigang fix and your soy sauce refill in one trip. But when it comes to the food itself? Let’s just say it’s decent… but not exactly the meal that makes you close your eyes and think of your lola’s cooking. It’s like they got 80% of the way there and then decided to take a coffee break. That said, if you’re homesick for Filipino flavors and don’t feel like cooking, this place scratches the itch—just maybe not as satisfyingly as you’d hope. But hey, beggars (and hungry Filipinos in Rockland) can’t be choosers.
April 28 · Janessa TiburcioStopped here on our way out of the city and it did not disappoint. We eat Filipino food all the time in Queens but this food blew us out of the water. We ordered 2 lunch combos with rice. We tried the longganisa, beef steak, pork adobo, lechon, and spicy pork. We also tried the cabbage soup and it was amazing. Our favorite was the pork adobo. The service was great and the portions were very generous - enough for both my wife and I to eat another full meal at dinner time. We got the halo halo to end our meal and loved every bite.
September 03 · Andy KuochThe food and the service is the best part of Tropical Grille. You're not going here for the atmosphere because there really is not much of an atmosphere considering you order food and there's a bit of a grocery store and you can sit at a table or two to eat your food but for the most partyou are taking your food with you and it is absolutely delicious. So if you're looking for absolutely delicious food served by some very nice people this is place for you...and me 😀.
