What is worth choosing
Isshiki Matcha is an easy choice for anyone in New York looking for an authentic and high-quality tea experience. What truly makes it worth choosing is its unwavering dedication to the art of matcha. Unlike many cafes that simply add matcha to their menu as an afterthought, Isshiki has built its entire identity around it. This focus allows them to offer a depth of flavor and a level of quality that is hard to find elsewhere. The use of ceremonial-grade matcha from a renowned region in Japan means every drink is an investment in a superior product.
One of the most compelling reasons to choose Isshiki Matcha is the variety and creativity of their menu. While their Premium Single Cultivar Matcha is perfect for the purist, their inventive lattes and seasonal drinks cater to a wider audience. The Strawberry Matcha Latte, for instance, has been highlighted by customers as a fan favorite, perfectly balancing the earthy tones of matcha with the sweet fruit flavor. The Mango Crepe Cake and Matcha Cheesecake also come highly recommended as the perfect accompaniments to your beverage, elevating the experience from a simple drink stop to a full-fledged culinary delight.
The atmosphere is another key factor. It strikes a balance between being a quiet, intimate space for solo diners and a welcoming spot for friends to connect. The positive reviews from customers highlight the kind and helpful staff, which makes a significant difference in the overall experience. Whether you’re looking to get some work done in a calm setting, catch up with a friend over a delicious drink, or simply take a moment for yourself, Isshiki Matcha provides the ideal setting.
In a city full of options, Isshiki Matcha stands out as a genuine sanctuary for matcha lovers. It's not just about the drinks, but about the experience—a little slice of tranquility and authentic Japanese tradition right in the heart of the East Village. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Good matcha!! I usually like matcha without sugar, but for some reason this unsweetened matcha just fell a bit short for me. I would get it slightly sweetened. It was also ready in 0.3 seconds, which is great but also made me curious if they whisked it lol.The inside is veryyyy pretty, but something about the vibes is just 5% off to me. I don’t know. Like a bit stand-offish.Great place to sit and chat!
June 07 · Cassia AI recently had the pleasure of visiting Isshiki Matcha, and I must say, it’s a real gem! As a female-owned business, they truly understand what makes a cozy and delightful café experience. The Hazelnut Matcha Latte and Lavender Vanilla Matcha Latte were both expertly crafted with just the right balance of flavors, making each sip a treat. The desserts, including a divine Matcha Cake and a light, flavorful Mango Crepe Cake, were both beautifully presented and delicious. Additionally, the Shrimp Tempura Onigiri was a savory delight that complemented the sweet treats perfectly.Whether you’re a matcha connoisseur or just looking for a tasty snack, Isshiki Matcha is the place to go. Don’t miss out on this wonderful spot that’s clearly run by people who know and love what they do!
March 14 · Bella LuGreat matcha spot! Approximately $8 for a regular size drink. They also have a small and large option. The strawberry matcha was made with a sweet strawberry marmalade. Very good! More on the sweeter side which is perfect if you have a sweet tooth (like me!) The coconut water matcha was really refreshing, especially now for the hot summer days. They’ve got plenty of seating options, though it was mostly all taken when we got there.
June 09 · Geraldine Marin LunaCute interior! Didn’t love the matcha or service. Lavender was subtle, but without it the matcha was too bitter. Not creamy. Honestly was a bit of a chore to finish! The small is very small (see pic)A bit dark inside
June 09 · Isabella GrandicI was so excited to find this new spot while walking around the East Village. It's small, quick, affordable, and incredibly unique. Moe was such a fantastic barista at Isshiki Matcha! Super friendly, attentive, and made my drink perfectly rich, smooth, and just the way I like it. Highly recommend!
