★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great little Japanese spot in LIC with excellent lunch specials and a wide ranging menu. There are small plates, excellent bento boxes, and a really good range of yakitori. There are vegetarian options like the tofu bento box, and more meaty options like chicken thigh yakitori or Chashu bento boxes. The drinks are great, with a large amount of sake options, some non-alcoholic matcha options, and even rare Hitachino white nest ale. Restaurant is a little on the hot side and not super-well air conditioned; on a hot day, it’s slightly uncomfortable.
July 20 · Blake RasmussenIzakaya Noname is one of our favorite Japanese restaurants in LIC. We always start with the Ube Tempura - Crunchy on the outside, soft and subtly sweet in the middle. It is so good and absolutely worth trying. The Gyoza were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside served with a dipping sauce. The Spicy Niku Udon was very good—thick, chewy noodles swimming in a rich, savory broth with tender slices of beef. The Sparkling Yuzu Matcha was very a refreshing treat - citrusy, lightly bitter, and with just enough fizz to keep it fun. It’s the kind of drink you don’t expect to crave until you’ve had it.Great for casual hangs, date nights, or just treating yourself to something flavorful and fun. The decor and posters are unique and fun. Staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We always have a great experience here.
April 20 · Rowena Mazurekcozy izakaya with yummy food and great variety! i loved the atmosphere and the music was phenomenal. not too loud to the point where it drowns out conversation, but loud enough for a 90’s ambiance. it’s mostly japanese city pop! very fitting for the delicious food.dishes:takoyaki (9/10)honestly the best i’ve had from a restaurant so far, and i always tend to get takoyaki when available. generous octopus portions, crispy and tender like how a classic takoyaki should be, and tastes pretty close to a street stall (which, imo, serves the most authentic tasting ones according to my japanese friends). beautiful presentation as well.purple sweet potato ube tempura (8.5/10)i looooove ube and this tastes exactly how you’d expect it to taste. almost like a sweet potato french fry!! super yummy but a bit on the oily side. not sure if i’d get again but I’m really glad i tried it out.chicken okaya udon (8/10)looooove the hondashi broth. HOWEVER i would not recommend the okaya udon just because the fried chicken cutlet was soaked entirely in broth and was veryyyy soggy. seriously, i tried my best to find a crunchy piece but i had no luck. hopefully i just got unlucky? or maybe this is the way that the dish is supposed to be made? not sure. but if you’re not into soggy chicken cutlets then i’d suggest avoiding this dish. but very yummy broth and udon!shrimp tempura rolli didn’t personally try this however my company very much enjoyed it and the portion was good!overall would visit again. seriously cannot stress how much i like the vibes and the food here!! also curious about their drinks so id definitely stop by another time.pricing is similar to what you’d see in manhattan, and expected in LIC. so $70 including tips! service was great, honestly just the right amount of attentiveness because i feel like some places visit our tables too much ahaha.parking is what you’d expect in LIC, plenty of metered street parking but not many available spots. luckily was able to find parking about a block away on a saturday afternoon. would recommend public transit if possible since it’s always a gamble.9.2/10
September 06 · annieTheir food is great—authentic Japanese flavor with a subtle touch of Western influence. Highly recommend their pasta and beef don—both dishes have a unique character and are packed with flavor. The decor is also thoughtfully done, creating a cheerful and pleasant atmosphere that really elevates the dining experience.
April 07 · D GuoVery well decorated Japanese restaurant! There were posters and lighting fixtures everywhere that would be reminiscent of a casual bar with comfort food. The grilled mackerel was a good starter. Very well cooked — the meat was tender and the skin was slightly crispy. Only thing was that it was a tad fishy at times. The cold udon was great for a hot day in retrospect, but the broth wasn’t as cold as I’d hope it would be. Still, the ingredients were all very refreshing and I didn’t feel heavy after the meal. The tempura fish cake might’ve been my favorite bite — light batter and well seasoned, it was a perfect balance to the cold dish.Grilled mackerel: 8.5Cold udon: 8.6
