Norm’s Pizza Introduce
In a borough as steeped in pizza tradition as Brooklyn, standing out from the crowd is no small feat. Yet, Norm's Pizza, a straight-up, no-frills pizza parlor, has managed to do just that. It's not about reinventing the wheel, but rather about perfecting a classic. With a philosophy that's heavy on nostalgia and low on the "BS," Norm's has quickly become a go-to spot for locals seeking a meticulously crafted, back-to-basics slice. This isn't just a place to grab a quick bite; it's a celebration of the timeless New York slice, elevated with high-quality ingredients and a dedication to old-school techniques.
Norm's story is one of simple precision and a deep respect for the craft. The founders, Noam Grossman, Eli, and Oren Halali, along with operating partner Rosario Viggiano, set out in 2019 to create what they call the "penultimate New York Slice." They brought in renowned pizza expert Anthony Falco to help them achieve this vision. The result is a pizza that feels both familiar and fresh. The dough, a key differentiator, is 100% naturally leavened with sourdough starter. This process gives the crust a distinctive chewiness and a layered flavor that you won't find at a run-of-the-mill spot. Baked in high-temperature electric ovens imported from Sweden, the pies are consistently delicious, with a crisp bottom and a soft interior.
Beyond the dough, Norm’s commitment to quality is evident in every topping. They use carefully-sourced and house-made sauces, and the cheese is a blend of Grande Mozzarella and Contessa Romano. From the classic Cheese Pie to the fan-favorite Vodka Pie, each option is a testament to their simple-but-precise menu. The reviews speak for themselves, with many praising the quality of the ingredients and the flavorful crust. One customer noted, "The best gourmet type of pizza so good and that sourdough crust is EVERYTHING!" Another reviewer, who has severe allergies, praised the staff's thoughtfulness and the fact that the pizza did not contain any of their allergens, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.
The atmosphere at Norm's is as inviting as the food. Described as having a "stylishly retro feel" and looking like a "vaporwave Pizza Hut," the Downtown Brooklyn location is a comfortable and casual spot perfect for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. The vibe is family-friendly and is a great place to bring kids. They even have outdoor seating and allow dogs, making it a perfect destination on a nice day. For a casual meal, whether you're dining solo or with a group, the laid-back setting makes it a community hub. The staff is consistently described as "chill" and "friendly," contributing to the overall positive experience.
While the in-person experience is highly recommended, especially to get a slice hot and fresh from the oven, Norm's also offers a variety of convenient services. Delivery is available, though some reviews have noted that the pizza doesn't always travel perfectly, sometimes arriving cold or with the toppings shifted. This is a common challenge for many pizzerias, and it's clear that the ultimate experience is had when you can get the pie fresh. However, for those nights in, the convenience of no-contact delivery and takeout options is a major plus. Norm's is a place that many people consider their "go-to" spot for consistent, high-quality pizza.
The price point is sometimes mentioned in reviews, with some finding it a "touch expensive" or "crazy expensive" compared to more traditional, no-frills slice shops. However, many customers feel the quality justifies the price, calling it "good value" for the quality of the ingredients and the size of the pies. A large 18-inch pie can feed a group, and the value-to-quality ratio is something many New Yorkers appreciate. The fact that the restaurant uses premium ingredients like Ezzo Supreme Pepperoni and naturally leavened sourdough sets it apart from typical grab-and-go options.
In a city with a pizza joint on every corner, Norm's Pizza holds its own by focusing on what truly matters: quality ingredients, time-honored techniques, and a friendly atmosphere. It’s a place that’s earning its reputation among the great names in Brooklyn’s ongoing pizza renaissance. Whether you’re a long-time resident or just visiting, Norm's offers a slice of authentic Brooklyn culture and a delicious taste of what a classic New York pie should be.

What is worth choosing
When you step into Norm's Pizza, you’re not just getting a slice; you’re experiencing an upgraded version of a classic New York tradition. The true star of the show is the dough. The naturally leavened sourdough crust is what sets Norm's apart. It has a depth of flavor and a unique texture—crisp on the bottom and wonderfully chewy—that makes every bite satisfying. Whether you're getting a simple Cheese Pie or a more elaborate creation, the crust provides the perfect foundation.
For first-time visitors, the must-try item is the Vodka Pie. This is their signature dish for a reason. The house-made vodka sauce is a standout, and many customers say they would buy it by the pint if they could. It’s a rich, flavorful, and unique offering that has earned the pizza a reputation as one of the best in the area. Another highly recommended choice is the White Pie, which is praised for its blend of Calabro Ricotta, Lemon Zest, and fresh garlic. It's a testament to how Norm's can take a simple concept and execute it with precision and care.
If you’re looking for something with a bit of a kick, the Supreme Pie with Ezzo Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, and Hatch Green Chiles is a popular and well-loved option. For those who prefer a different style, the Sicilian pie is a revelation. It’s described as incredibly light and airy with a caramelized cheese crust that creates a beautiful crunch, offering a Detroit-style nod within a classic New York setting.
The value proposition at Norm’s is also worth noting. While some might find the price higher than a typical slice joint, the use of high-quality, meticulously sourced ingredients and the skilled preparation make it a worthwhile investment. The pies are large, and the flavor is anything but average. The combination of a friendly, casual atmosphere, a simple-yet-precise menu, and an unwavering commitment to quality ensures that Norm's Pizza is more than just a restaurant—it's a destination for true pizza lovers in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Tried yesterday but the line was so big and the place is small. So went back today. Holy smokes!! Pizza is delicious. Every bite was better than the next. I got four different slices to try with my wife. Cheese, pepperoni, meat, lovers, and mushroom. Wow, every single one. Staff was friendly and pizza was fast and really reasonably priced. Definitely the spot in Brooklyn.
May 30 · Peter VillasusoI have severe nut, sesame seed, and seafood allergies and the staffer at Norm’s, Monty, was so thoughtful and respectful of my allergies! When I went, Norm’s doesn’t use any of allergens in their pizza. The crust was thin and light, perfectly NY style proportions, and solid ingredients. We got cheese and their ricotta lemon flavor. Always love safe and good food, and friendly staffers. Thanks!
August 18 · Kaitie DongWe have ordered pizza from Norm's many times. This is the 2nd time I'm writing to complain. Normally, this is a solid place to order from. It is pricy but good. Yesterday we ordered and vodka pie was completely unacceptable. Whoever was doing the sauce and cheese as clearly in a rush and doesn't really care about making pizza. The sauce is completely missing from a large part of the pie. I don't see how anyone could make this mistake. It's like they weren't even looking at the pie when they were making it. The slices we did eat were tasty but no one wanted to eat the slices that were mostly cooked crust with nothing on it. Super disappointed. There is no real excuse for such a crappy pie. The other pizza we got, pepperoni, was fine. Not perfect but good. Pepperoni was maybe a little on the burnt side. Again, it was fine. Both tasted good but the vodka pie was a joke.
October 12 · Lou FernandezThe white slice was pretty good. Cramped and dark inside.
September 17 · Gregor J. RothfussPizza tastes amazing I got the vodka slice and the flavor is perfect pizza has a nice crunchDefinitely recommend this place
