Panda Introduce
Panda, a Chinese restaurant situated on a bustling stretch of Broadway in Newburgh, NY, serves as a neighborhood cornerstone for accessible, satisfying cuisine. While primarily identified as a Chinese restaurant, the menu holds intriguing clues that hint at a broader, perhaps Peruvian-Chinese or 'Chifa' influence, making it a unique culinary stop in the New York region. This is evident in the inclusion of specialty items alongside more traditional fare, suggesting a fusion approach that appeals to diverse local tastes. The restaurant focuses on delivering comfort food, quick bites, and small plates, making it an ideal choice for a casual meal.
The atmosphere is casual and designed to be family-friendly, welcoming a broad local crowd for both lunch and dinner. For Newburgh residents and commuters, Panda is a convenient choice, highlighted by its late-night food offerings, which are a valuable amenity in the area. Its popularity for solo dining suggests it is a reliable, straightforward option for anyone needing a quick, satisfying meal.
The menu, as revealed by its specialty selections, offers dishes that go beyond standard Chinese-American fare. The listing of items like 'Combinado Marino' and 'Combinado Criollo' under the Special Seafood section, along with soups such as 'Parihuela' (a Peruvian seafood soup), and weekend specials like 'Cau Cau' (a Peruvian tripe stew), hints at a distinctive culinary perspective. These are accompanied by popular Peruvian beverages like Inca Kola, reinforcing a unique blend of South American and Chinese influences, a style of cooking known globally as Chifa. This fusion distinguishes Panda from many other Chinese eateries in the area, offering patrons a chance to explore a less common, yet deeply comforting, style of cooking.
It is important for prospective patrons to note that while the restaurant aims to provide service options like dine-in and takeout, a single customer review mentioned issues regarding order quality and service demeanor. One review noted food being "bland" and "disappointing," specifically mentioning dry fried chicken and poor rice quality. Another review detailed a very negative experience with service, alleging rude behavior, refusal of seating despite empty tables, and condescending handling of payment methods. While businesses can have off days, and one bad experience does not define an establishment, potential diners should be aware of these past concerns, though many other customers may have had positive experiences that contribute to its continued operation.
Panda is prominently situated in a highly accessible location on Broadway, making it a visible and convenient stop for Newburgh locals and those traveling through the area.

The defining characteristic that makes Panda worth choosing is its apparent blend of Chinese and Peruvian cuisine, a style commonly known as Chifa. The presence of authentic Peruvian specialty dishes, seafood preparations, and beverages like Inca Kola sets it apart. Diners are encouraged to choose Panda to try these specific Peruvian-influenced items, which are not widely available at typical neighborhood Chinese takeout spots. The chance to sample a 'Combinado Marino' or a hearty 'Parihuela' soup offers a memorable and enriching culinary experience.
For the local user, the restaurant's practicality and convenience are also significant drawcards. The commitment to offering late-night food is a valuable service that meets the needs of a diverse community. Furthermore, the combination of a free parking lot, a central location on Broadway, and a fully wheelchair accessible entrance removes common barriers to dining out. This logistical convenience makes it a practical, hassle-free option for families and individuals alike.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered boneless fried chicken w PFR. The chicken was so dry I couldn't eat half of it and the rice was disappointing. Whole meal was bland and certainly not worth $10.
August 24 · Cassii AuerI’m not sure if it was racism or bigotry or what, but I stopped in with a friend of mine who had fallen on hard times to buy him lunch. The person who took the order was rude from the beginning, glaring at us and sarcastically asked him if he was sure after he ordered. When the food was ready, we were told we were not allowed to sit down even though there were four empty tables for dining and the rest of the dining room was empty. It’s fine to only take cash but the person serving us rolled her eyes about my card and said “see? I told you. We don’t take that.” So I went next door and got cash. When I returned with cash and asked for a water to be added to my bill as well she rolled her eyes at me again. She refused to tell me a total and instead held her hand out for the money then practically threw the bag at us, glaring the whole time. I have never in my life written a poor review of anywhere but I was horrified at the dehumanizing way she treated my friend. I would never ever eat at this restaurant again. The food didn’t look very good either.

June 14 · Epiphany SholarMe and my girlfriend have been coming here for months and the food is amazing. The lady knows us for our orders and my girls little brother for taking duck sause with all his meals. My favorite is the chicken on the stick! So tender and moist nothing like it! My girl orders the largest order of crab ragoon. Now being back to Newburg and My girl is expecting all she wants is her crab ragoon!!!😂 She always tells me other Chinese food Crab ragoons have more air then filling. But here they fill there's to the max inside of the pocket. MOST AMAZING PLACE EVER!!!
May 09 · Wayne FloodOrder my food from my phone and then after standing in front of everybody for about 10 minutes finally asked if my food was ready cuz I never got a message of any kind and my food had been sitting there the whole time. And then when I asked how long I have been there the man lied to me and said it just got done. Then when I finally get down the road there is no utensils to eat the food and no napkins and no fortune cookies.
