Saint Julivert Introduce
For discerning New Yorkers searching for an elevated and truly unique seafood experience, Saint Julivert, nestled in the picturesque neighborhood of Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, presents an unmissable culinary destination. Far from the typical clam shack or steakhouse-style fish restaurant, Saint Julivert offers a refreshingly distinct approach, focusing on global flavors, inventive small plates, and a deeply curated beverage program. This isn't just a restaurant; it’s an intimate exploration of the world’s oceans, interpreted through creative and often unexpected dishes that excite the palate.
The atmosphere at Saint Julivert is carefully cultivated—it's described as **Cozy, Romantic, Trendy, and Upscale**. This blend of comfort and sophistication makes it a perfect spot for a date night, a celebratory dinner, or a sophisticated solo dining experience. The menu is structured around small plates, encouraging guests to sample a variety of textures and flavors, from the ocean’s bounty to inventive preparations of vegetables and terrines. The focus on shareable, small-format dishes allows patrons to craft their own tasting menu, making every visit a personalized culinary journey.
What truly sets Saint Julivert apart is its commitment to pairing its fresh, globally-inspired seafood with an exceptional collection of beverages. The **Great wine list** is not just a highlight—it is a central pillar of the dining experience, featuring selections thoughtfully grouped by the world's major water bodies: the Adriatic Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean, and Tasman Sea. This thematic organization is a delightful touch that reinforces the restaurant's deep connection to its seafood focus. For the adventurous drinker, the dedicated selection of Rhum and classic **Ti' Punch** cocktails from Martinique and Haiti offers a rare and exciting Caribbean twist. Saint Julivert is, unequivocally, a must-visit spot for New Yorkers seeking high-quality, inventive seafood in a chic, engaging setting in Brooklyn.
While a few customer reviews suggest that the portions can be on the smaller side relative to the price point, this is often a characteristic of upscale, small-plate dining, where the focus is on technique, quality of ingredients, and flavor density rather than sheer volume. For those who prioritize a refined, flavor-packed dining experience over a large, conventional meal, Saint Julivert provides excellent value in terms of culinary artistry and atmosphere.
Saint Julivert is perfectly situated at **264 Clinton St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA**. This prime address places it squarely in Cobble Hill, one of Brooklyn's most desirable and charming neighborhoods, known for its historic brownstones and vibrant, yet relaxed, dining scene.
Cobble Hill is highly accessible for New York City residents. The restaurant is likely a short walk from several major subway lines serving Downtown Brooklyn and the surrounding areas, making it easy to reach from Manhattan and other parts of the boroughs. The location on Clinton Street integrates it into a lovely, walkable area, allowing diners to enjoy the neighborhood's atmosphere before or after their meal.
For convenience, the restaurant offers multiple **Service options** including **Dine-in**, **Takeout**, and **Delivery**, catering to both those seeking the full, upscale restaurant experience and those who prefer to enjoy the cuisine at home. When dining at Saint Julivert, New Yorkers are encouraged to embrace the small-plates concept to fully appreciate the breadth of the kitchen's talent. To craft the perfect experiential meal, consider a few of these recommended choices that highlight the restaurant's unique offerings:
Begin your journey with the **Spicy Peanuts** ($5.00) and the savory **Cantabrian Anchovies** ($16.00) from the 'Snacks' menu to whet your appetite. Move on to the 'Chilled' section, which is a true testament to the freshness of the seafood. From the 'Hot' menu, the customer-praised **Squid** ($19.00) is a must-try. Another outstanding hot dish to consider is the **Posole** ($21.00), offering a warm, hearty, and globally-inspired comfort food option. For an authentic taste of the ocean's delicacy, the **Sea Urchin** ($16.00) is a standout, and the **Kanpachi Collar** ($16.00) often provides a rich, flavorful, and often overlooked cut of fish.
Finally, no visit to Saint Julivert is complete without exploring the beverage menu. Instead of a typical Manhattan cocktail, opt for the classic **Ti' Punch** or its variation, the **Coconut Ti' Punch**. And, most importantly, ask your server for a pairing recommendation from their renowned **Great wine list**. Choosing a glass from one of the less common regions, such as the **2016 Alberto Orte 'Atlantida Blanco'** ($96.00 bottle) from Cadiz, Spain, or the **2016 Millton Vineyards 'La Côte' Pinot Noir** ($80.00 bottle) from New Zealand’s Pacific-facing Gisbourne, will perfectly complement the globally-inspired cuisine and elevate your entire dining experience at this exceptional Brooklyn seafood destination.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Incredible meal, no- experience. We got the chefs counter and were greeted by Winnie. She was helpful with an amazing drink recommendation. Then came the scallop tacos which I hear are only available on Friday/Saturday and Sunday if you’re feeling lucky (they run out)! The stars of the show were the seafood sausage and the squid. Can’t wait to go back!
September 19 · Eduardo GonzalezI’ve been eating in NYC and similar establishments all over Europe for 40 years. I enjoyed the owners other places especially Txikito. I don’t remember the last time I felt like having a slice of pizza after a meal.Hushpuppies had a nice flavor. No complaints there.Amberjack was good, appreciated the tomato water especially. But when sharing with another, jute a couple of small pieces each. One of the smallest “crudo” dishes I’ve seen.A special of polenta fritters with babaganoush and salmon was delectable, but it’s more like a $20+ amuse bouche.Rissotto was flavor packed and smoky. But again, poor value and a dish that felt like an excellent side dish midway. Would have loved to pair this with some fish or something. This is a fisherie with zero cooked fish on the menu other than a very expensive whole fish special.Squid a la Plancha - not as good as I hoped. Overly sweet and one-note until you mix all the sauces.5 dishes, one drink - $170. We could have easily ordered two more dishes but simply didn’t feel like paying more for such poor value.
September 14 · ZiggyThe food was excellent. Despite the portion being small, every dish we ordered was delicious and well executed. The moment I arrived at the restaurant I was immediately struck with the elegant aesthetic and the ambience.Giving just four stars because they only have high tops at both communal table and counter unless you sit outdoors. Sitting through the whole dinner was not ideal for elders. Understandably they are trying to maximize the space it’s just a bit unfortunate.
July 16 · Kaden LeeThis is one of the best tapas spots I have ever tried, hands down! We ordered the special, the sole with Thai inspired vinaigrette, the octopus, the beet salad, risotto, oyster mushroom soba, and the whipped mackerel. Every dish is extremely balanced in terms of flavors and texture (I prefer milder tastes for reference). And the combination of ingredients of each dish is so delightful and delicious. For example, the roasted hazelnuts paired with the beets is a surprising burst of flavors that leave you wanting more. The dishes also came out quickly, and it's really nice to try out each dish all at once! I don't usually give reviews for restaurants unless I'm completely blown away. I will definitely keep coming back to Saint Julivert and I'm excited to see what other dishes they will create!
July 10 · Shiyun ChenHidden gem in Brooklyn: Michelin Bib seafood spot serving innovative yet authentic dishes. Great wine selection, top-notch service, and a cozy atmosphere. Must-try: raw prawn cold dish and grilled hamachi collar. 🐟 🦐 🦑
