With such a tempting menu, it can be hard to decide what to order. A great strategy is to follow the lead of many satisfied customers and "make a 'tour' through the tapas menu." This approach allows you to sample a wide variety of flavors.
For starters, the Gambas Al Ajillo (Shrimp on Olive Oil and Garlic) is a classic Spanish dish that is consistently praised by reviewers. The Queso De Cabra Con Miel (Fried Goat Cheese With Honey) is another popular choice and a highlight for many diners. For something fresh and vibrant, the Gazpacho is an excellent option.
If you're dining with a group, the Paella De Mariscos (Seafood Paella) is a must-try. This large-format dish is perfect for sharing and offers a truly authentic taste of Spain. For entrees, the Lubina A La Plancha (Grilled Branzino) has been called "one of the best" in the area, a bold claim that speaks to its quality.
To end your meal on a sweet note, the Churros Con Chocolate and the Manzana Asada (Grilled Apple in Pastry) are highly recommended. And of course, no meal at Sala Astoria is complete without trying their signature drinks, whether it's the classic Red Sangria or a cocktail from their well-curated list. The combination of its flavorful food, great drinks, and vibrant atmosphere makes Sala Astoria a top choice for a Spanish dining experience in New York.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Definitely the best Tapas place in Astoria! Food, service and ambient are magnificent! We made a ‘tour’ through the tapas menu and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a Must in Astoria!Hard to decide what was the best, but, gazpacho, goat cheese with honey and as dessert the crispy apple it’s my highlight recommendation
August 01 · Manu Ugalde -Yoda del Awake-7/20 update - I feel like I’ve been sleeping on the quality of the food here. The branzino here is probably one of the best I’ve had in the area, including the Greek places. Garlic shrimp is amazing.Recommended.——Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. Turns out they have flamenco dancers performing every Tuesday during the summer!Sat at the bar and ordered a few plates to share. Definitely the standouts were the gazpacho and pork terrine, with crispy skin! The other dishes, cauliflower, shrimp, and calamari were tasty.Service was nice and attentive. A few wines on the list along with cocktails. I personally didn’t enjoy the red wines as they were too tannic - I tried two. The white, Albariño, was the way to go!This experience was much better than the last time I visited last year!
July 22 · Jason EngI met some friends for dinner at Sala. True to its name, the place feels more like a living room, with tables and chairs arranged in a cozy, homey manner. The food was decent—nothing exceptional—and the mixed drinks were also satisfactory but nothing memorable. The relaxed atmosphere was nice, but I’d probably choose to go somewhere else next time. Parking was a real hassle; I spent about 20 minutes driving around before finally finding a spot three blocks away.
June 14 · Insoo OmAbsolutely amazing! First rate staff (thank you Maria!) and flawless food. We had the grilled asparagus and the paella special of the day, which was skirt steak.
July 20 · Meagan GeciSala in Astoria is a total win. We grabbed seats at the bar and had a great time—fantastic bartender, super welcoming and on point. The food was delicious across the board: tender octopus, elegant white asparagus, and flavorful mejillones conservas. The standout? The seafood paella—rich, perfectly cooked, and packed with depth.Great vibe, lively clientele, and a space that feels both relaxed and buzzing. A low-key gem that knows exactly what it’s doing.
