Traditional Russian cuisine is a highlight in the diverse NYC food landscape. While specific menu details for the Forest Hills location were not universally available, a typical Russian restaurant menu, which Troyka’s cuisine type suggests, often features staples that are highly sought after by local diners. These traditional favorites frequently include:
- Pelmeni: Savory dumplings, usually filled with a mix of meats, often served with sour cream. This is a quintessential Russian comfort food.
- Borscht and Solyanka: Rich, hearty soups. Borscht is the well-known beet-based soup, while Solyanka is a thick, flavorful soup often made with cured meats and vegetables.
- Beef Stroganoff: Tender strips of beef served in a creamy mushroom sauce, typically over egg noodles, rice, or buckwheat kasha.
- Pirozhki: Small baked or fried buns filled with a variety of savory or sweet fillings like meat, cabbage, or potatoes.
- Shashlik: Deliciously marinated and grilled skewers of meat (such as chicken, lamb, or pork), a popular dish in many Eastern European establishments, noted to be a highlight at similar venues.
Choosing Troyka means choosing a cozy atmosphere that is perfect for a multi-course meal, a celebratory drink, and an evening spent with a group of friends or family. The convenience of accepting reservations also makes the planning process straightforward, which is a significant factor for New Yorkers who appreciate efficiency. When you are looking to book an event, a large dinner, or simply explore the rich, warming dishes of Russian culinary tradition without leaving Queens, Troyka in Forest Hills is a strong and appealing local choice. The combination of authentic cuisine, a full-service bar, and its group-friendly layout reinforces its position as a go-to spot for Queens dining.
It is important to note that customer experiences can vary, and while some patrons have praised the lively entertainment and wonderful New Year's Eve celebration experience, highlighting the amazing main singer, others have reported issues with event planning, food freshness, and service communication. As a customer, it is recommended to communicate clearly with the restaurant about your specific needs, especially for large, catered events, and to confirm menu details and setup expectations in advance. For a general dinner experience, the restaurant’s strong points—the full bar, cozy setting, and focus on Russian dishes—still make it a valuable part of the Forest Hills dining landscape. For a guaranteed seamless experience, booking a standard dinner reservation and enjoying the a la carte offerings and atmosphere would be an excellent way to first experience what Troyka has to offer.
In summary, Troyka is a Forest Hills fixture that promises authentic Russian comfort food in a group-friendly, cozy setting with a complete bar service. It’s an essential Queens stop for anyone seeking a taste of Eastern European tradition for their next night out or special event.

January 01 · Asia NowokunskiExcellent food 😋 👌. Service was not so well. Great atmosphere and clean, but in the bathroom, not so good. Toalet sets are broken, and no toalet papers, water running nonstop not able to close. Overall, it was good.
March 07 · Mikhail IsakharovAmazing place. Very friendly service, not overpriced, and great quality food. The bread is unbelievable, fresh and crusty. We ordered salty and marinated appetizers, which were great, and a Caesar salad, which was good but not outstanding. We had pelmeni and shurpa, both were good, but tasted like it was from the same soup. Kids loved pelmeni. We loved the kebobs, they're soft and juicy, for $5 a stick they're a steal. We ordered pilaf as well (you have to order ahead of time and for at least 5 people), it was very tasty, but everyone thought the kebobs were better. No dessert since no one could really move after a meal like that, and all of that for $33 per person. Great experience, definitely work the drive from NJ, will come again and will look into catering with them.
December 31 · Dmitry KreslavskiyYears ago it was party like crazy, this time during New Year's Eve party, the band was good, but the repertuar was kind of short on music. The food and service were awesome. The only drawback were the red recessed lights that prevent you from taking your own photos, so you are almost forced to buy their internal photographers' photos. That's not right
