★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I think this place was pretty cool. Never been before and didn't have a problem ordering coffee. The people that work there were nice. I personally didn't have any issues.I'd say the disorganization of games was a bit much and overwhelming. However, it's a lot and I'm sure they'll find a better system. Some of the games didn't have directions either and maybe on their last leg. Truly shows how popular they are though!I think this place was an overall good experience ans yes, you have to reserve and pay for a table ahead of time FYI! :)
January 13 · Brittany DHad a great time! Lots of games to pick from, food was nice to have available, not mind blowing but definitely hit the spot.
July 13 · KiloVisiting NYC and checked with the shop about visiting with my family (who all play magic) just to pass some time while we waited for our show.60$ to sit. 15/person with a time limit. Nothing towards store credit or purchases. Just 60$ to come play. You lost a paying customer from out of town who intended to find some fun cards or sealed to take home.
August 03 · James AsherListen I love this place and I’m here all the time… however, the bathroom is always gross. Anytime I’ve gone in after a dude and he’s left the seat up the inside looks like it’s literally never been cleaned. There is always a line of piss down the front. The trash is usually filled if not overflowing. Again, love this place, just wish the bathroom was cleaner
July 21 · Annie ManningMy girlfriend and I had a good time here until the place was about to close. An employee briefly walked around the cafe and announced there were "free pastries" available that would otherwise go bad ("free", verbatim). About 10 minutes later I was at the register, buying a copy of a game that we liked (Brightcast, check it out guys 👍). In the meantime my girlfriend picked up two cookies for us from the aforementioned "free" batch scattered on the counter, facing the customer. When she handed one to me, the employee's immediate reaction was to give her an uneasy look and tell us how those were for a "voluntary tip", pointing at the tip jar. We apologized, bringing up how they had said the pastries were free. Still acting uneasy, he said we could have them since "now we touched them", and to be fair to him, he apologized for being unclear earlier.Since I was still in the middle of buying the game and now felt pressured, I offered to leave a small tip on the register's screen - one we had already tipped them on twice while buying coffees. He said "no, that's not the same". Of course not, they'd need to actually pay their taxes if I tipped with card. And that's where the second employee comes in, suggesting we should Venmo them. She pulls out her phone without even asking if we'd be willing to do that, opens her personal Venmo, and after I tell her I don't have it (I'm not from the US), she shoves it under my girlfriend's nose.At this point we considered just walking out, but we did end up tipping her a little out of pressure. I mean, they deserved it for such great service. I love the US tipping culture, but I love this place's shady practices even more. I would just go to a different spot if I were you. Two stars because the place itself was fine.
