What is Worth Choosing?
While the entire menu is a delight, there are a few items at Socarrat Paella Bar that are particularly worth choosing. The paella, of course, is the star of the show. The restaurant’s namesake dish is a must-try, and the fact that the staff is willing to accommodate dietary needs, such as keeping shrimp on the side for a guest, is a testament to their excellent service. The Paella de Mariscos and Paella Mixta are classic choices that offer a rich and flavorful experience. Remember to order your tapas and paella at the same time, as the paella takes a while to cook, allowing you to enjoy the delicious small plates while you wait.
For starters, the tapas menu is filled with excellent choices. The "Pan con Tomate" (fresh tomato spread with olive oil and garlic on country toast) and the crispy and creamy "Croquetas" are highly recommended and perfect for sharing. The "Gambas al Ajillo" (sizzling shrimp in garlic and olive oil) and "Patatas Bravas" (crispy potatoes with aioli and spicy tomato sauce) are also classic Spanish comfort foods that are executed beautifully here. The "Torrijas," a caramelized brioche French toast, is a standout dessert that has received high praise and is a great way to end the meal, as recommended by a server to a customer who called it one of the "best desserts we've ever had."
When it comes to drinks, a pitcher of the Red Sangria is a fantastic choice for a group. The bar also offers a wide range of Spanish wines and inventive cocktails, such as the "Espresso Martini" or "Spanish Negroni." For a fun and refreshing option, the "Tinto de Verano" or "Rebujito" are great choices. The restaurant’s commitment to providing a full and authentic experience, from the music to the service, makes every visit memorable. It's a place to linger, enjoy the company, and savor the flavors of a culture celebrated for its warmth and conviviality. For a genuine taste of Spain in the heart of New York, Socarrat Paella Bar is the perfect spot.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went to dinner for restaurant week with my parents and we had a delightful evening! Delicious tapas, and the paella was delicious! My mom and I couldn’t eat shrimp and the staff was nice enough to keep the shrimp on the side and make a separate broth to cook the paella so that my mom and I can enjoy it and my dad was able to eat the shrimp! He said it was spectacular! We definitely would love to come again and try something else on the menu next time!
August 06 · Meghan NgWe had an amazing experience at Socarrat! Everything—from the food to the drinks, music, and service—was fantastic. Our server, Andreu, was so nice and attentive, and he recommended one of the best desserts we’ve ever had.We highly recommend placing your tapas and paella order together since paella takes a while to cook. While waiting for our Socarrat, we enjoyed Pan con Tomate and Croquetas, both of which were delicious—we only wished we had second stomachs to order more! For drinks, the Red Sangria was fantastic, and we also tried the Vino Tinto de Verano, though we personally would’ve liked it a bit sweeter. The highlight of the night was dessert—thanks to Andreu’s suggestion, we had the Torrijas, a caramelized brioche French toast with a citrus-infused milk, crispy edges, and warm, gooey goodness, perfectly paired with vanilla ice cream. The music selection was great, and the lively staff singing along added to the fun atmosphere. The space and tables were a bit small, especially when ordering a lot of tapas and paella, but the cozy and vibrant ambiance made up for it.Highly recommend this spot—can’t wait to come back!
March 28 · Nicole PowersAnother location of this Paella known for their caramelized bottom rice. Much easier to talk without the live flamenco performance of nolita location lol. Paellas were well made, white fish still tender and flaky only with rice was burnt a little bit more. Liked the charcuterie board and croquettes, flan excellent with abundant sauce. Waiters helps scrape clean the paellas towards the end.
August 03 · Jia SunHaving been to Madrid for paella Valenciana (and some extraordinary roasted suckling lamb!!) in April, NYC is much more convenient for Spanish fare. Definitely not a connoisseur of Spanish food by any means, but the flavors here were good and everything was fresh. We had the fried chorizo potato balls and also a charcuterie platter of jamon, manchega, almonds, olives, chorizo, and tomato toast appetizer. The jamon here isn't the complex, dark scarlet "iberico", variety, but more like a pale pink prosciutto. Still flavorful, but not deeply umami like in Spain. The house "Soccarat" paella was fresh, but the soccarat pieces were too hard, akin to little salty pebbles, for our pallets. Again, we're not paella experts, but the dish was rich and the ingredients were fresh. We didn't finish the paella, but took it home and added a cup of plain water to reheat it the next day, transforming the leftovers into something entirely different and quite wonderful. Service was also good, quiet Sunday night, plenty of the high-top tables were available upon arriving for our 8pm reservation. 2 appetizers, paella for 2, a flan and some warm churros with chocolate dip for dessert, a glass of wine and a drink, about $150 all in, very fairly priced for NYC.
August 01 · M LeeI came here for a couple of times with friends and family, and we came from Jersey. I absolutely love this place, food is authentic and delicious. Staffs are friendly, especially my server Diego A. he was very welcoming and experienced. Not to mention, the reception lady was very nice too. Will be back soon!
