Navigating a full menu can be daunting, but at Ankara One Turkish Restaurant, a few key dishes are consistently celebrated by customers and are a must-try for both first-time visitors and regulars.
For an introduction to Turkish flavors, start with the Soups. The Red Lentil Soup ($8.95) is a classic—hearty, savory, and the perfect start to any meal, often noted for its great flavor. A more adventurous but equally authentic choice is the Beef Tripe Soup ($9.50).
The Cold Appetizers section is where the Mediterranean spirit shines. A generous portion of creamy Hummus or the smoky, savory Babaghanoush (both $8.95) are excellent choices. For a mix of flavors, the Mixed Appetizer ($17.95) offers a wonderful sampling of their best cold mezes.
The Main Courses are the stars of the show, specifically the grilled and spit-roasted items. The Lamb Gyro ($16.95) and Chicken Gyro ($16.95), whether as a platter or a sandwich, are foundational to their reputation. The Kofte Kebab ($16.95), featuring seasoned ground lamb and beef meatballs, is highly recommended for its excellent preparation and flavor. For a more substantial, high-end meal, the Lamb Chops ($19.95) and the Mixed Grill ($35.95)—a platter featuring a variety of their best meats—offer outstanding value and taste. Don't forget their delightful Turkish flatbread options like the Gozleme (Meat, Cheese, Spinach, or Potato for $9.95), a savory pastry that makes for a light meal or excellent side.
Finally, no Turkish meal is complete without dessert. The Baklava (4pcs) ($7.95), with its flaky phyllo and sweet nuts, or the creamy Rice Pudding ($8.95) are the perfect finishes to a satisfying, flavorful meal at this Brooklyn gem. Ankara One Turkish Restaurant Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Turkish cuisine. The restaurant is open 24 hours and the food is halal. Tables are available for dining in but there are no servers. Soups, salads, cold and hot appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and beverages are available. I ordered the babaganoush appetizer which was a generous portion. The small chicken gyro was well-prepared. The small kofte kebab consisted of Turkish-style lamb and beef meatballs with some spices. The meatballs are shaped like small patties and tasted very good.
June 21 · Steven NechamkinI went 7 am! I ordered lentil soup and lamp soup, hummus and falafel with rice and salad. The portion is big! I couldn't finish all. Great flavor!
June 08 · Angie MokThis is the large adana kabab price is 24 dollars 2 kabab and very less rice i think we ordered large adana saladVery cheap service there is no manners how to behave with customers. Not recommend
April 23 · Syed HaiderWhy there are so many bad reviews? Delicious lamb shish kebab! Amazing Turkish salad on the side with red cabbage! Rice is so delicious! Head and shoulders above Memo shish kebab restaurant, even nothing to compare.Have been buying food to go there within a few years and I didn’t notice any difference in quality. Still is my favorite!
May 11 · Andrew BlazhukevichI’ve been here already like 10 times, and each visit just confirms how solid this place is. The food is authentic, flavorful, and always satisfying. The lamb gyro is my personal favorite—juicy, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft, warm bread. Their chicken shish kebab and red lentil soup are also must-tries.The atmosphere is casual but welcoming, perfect whether you’re dining in or grabbing something late at night (they’re open 24/7!). The staff is friendly and attentive—makes you feel like you’re eating at a family-run place where they actually care about the food and the customer.Portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes fresh. I’ve never left hungry, and I always leave happy. If you’re in Brooklyn and craving Turkish or Mediterranean food, Ankara is absolutely worth a visit.
