FOOD POISONING (!)Went here with friends and ordered food (shawarma tacos and cheeseburger) and drinks. The food itself was delicious, so much so that I finished my husband’s burger when he said it didn’t sit right with him. But within 20 minutes, both of us were violently ill. My friends convinced me to alert the manager before we ran out home, not just for us but for the next unsuspecting diners. I began by making it very clear that we were not seeking compensation; just wanting to flag the important issue before we headed out. Here’s where things went from bad to appalling: The manager proceeded to gaslight me, giving me a bizarre, longer-than-necessary lecture about how “food poisoning takes at least six hours to manifest” (wrong), insinuating I didn’t understand vegan food (I eat Impossible burgers constantly) and was somehow lying because only REAL MEAT can make you sick (also not true, when it was likely bad lettuce or something), and dismissing my concerns entirely. No apology, no acknowledgment, not even a hint of concern that their food had just made TWO people sick. I just left disappointed and very ill.Bottom line: If you want to roll the dice with your health and be condescended to on top of it, this is your spot. Otherwise, steer clear. I will be submitting a formal report in the morning, since they clearly aren’t interested in taking responsibility or basic precautions. All it would have taken was a “sorry.” And to be clear: the food and the drinks were very good, and service was fast and good up to the manager…. so you may have better luck than us. - Daniela Rodríguez Mincey

Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor Introduce

In a city brimming with countless dining options, finding a restaurant that offers a truly unique and memorable experience can be a rewarding quest. Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor, located on Amsterdam Avenue, stands out as a distinctive eatery that goes beyond the typical bar or restaurant model. This establishment has made a name for itself by combining a passion for high-quality craft beer with a surprising and impressive menu of vegan and plant-based pub food. This article will provide a comprehensive guide to what makes Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor a compelling destination for New Yorkers and visitors alike, from its innovative menu to its prime location and services.

The concept behind Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor is simple yet brilliant: offer a curated selection of beers in a relaxed, pub-like setting, while also providing a food menu that challenges traditional expectations. Instead of serving the usual pub fare, the kitchen focuses on creating delicious and satisfying vegan and plant-based dishes. This innovative approach caters to a growing segment of the population looking for high-quality meat-free options that are both flavorful and creative. Customers have praised the food as "amazing," with the vegan BBQ burger being a particular standout. The commitment to crafting plant-based versions of classic comfort foods sets this restaurant apart in a crowded market.

While the food is a major draw, the "Beer Parlor" part of the name is equally important. The establishment likely offers a rotating and diverse selection of craft beers, appealing to beer enthusiasts who are always on the lookout for new and exciting brews. This combination of a top-tier beverage program and a unique food menu creates a well-rounded experience that caters to a variety of tastes. It’s a place where you can grab a pint of your favorite brew and pair it with a gourmet plant-based burger, a pairing that might be hard to find elsewhere.

As with any dining establishment, customer experiences can vary. While many reviews praise the delicious food and good service, there have been some notable critiques. One review mentioned a distressing experience involving a manager and a concern over food safety. The customer claimed to have experienced illness after eating a shawarma taco and a cheeseburger, leading to a negative interaction with management who reportedly dismissed their concerns. While this is a serious allegation, it is also important to note that another customer defended the establishment, stating that it is highly unlikely to get food poisoning from vegan food in such a short amount of time. This particular incident highlights the importance of open communication and a willingness to address customer feedback, and it serves as a reminder that the quality of service can significantly impact the dining experience.

It's clear from the reviews that the quality of the food and service from the staff is generally well-regarded. The issue seemed to stem from a specific interaction with a manager, which, while disappointing, may not reflect the overall experience for most diners. The fact that the food and drinks were described as "very good" and the service as "fast and good" up until that point suggests that the core offering of the restaurant is solid. For many patrons, the innovative menu and quality beverages will likely be the primary focus, and the overall experience will be a positive one.

Ultimately, Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor is a bold and interesting concept that serves a niche in the New York dining scene. It’s a destination for those who appreciate creative, plant-based pub food and a great selection of craft beer. The restaurant’s unique identity and commitment to its specific culinary vision make it a worthwhile place to visit, especially for people looking for alternatives to traditional pub fare.
