This celebrated boulangerie-pâtisserie has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination, a local treasure that brings the meticulous craft and passion of French baking right to your neighborhood.
Brooklyn French Bakers was founded by three French friends—Sabrina Labouré, Teddy Collet, and Nelly Azambre—who met in Brooklyn and shared a singular vision: to bring a piece of their culinary culture to the bustling streets of New York City. Since opening their first location in 2022, they have been committed to sharing their love for cooking and community through delicious, seasonal, and affordable products. Their dedication to quality is evident in every crusty loaf and flaky pastry, which they describe as an "expression of joy, love, and community." They are also sensitive to the environment, aiming for a zero-waste operation and using recyclable packaging for their deliveries. This unique combination of authentic French technique and a New York sensibility makes them a standout in the city's competitive bakery scene.
The bakery’s reputation soared when it captured the top prize for the "Best Croissant in New York" at a French Morning competition, an award judged by well-known New York chefs and bakers. This prestigious win cemented their status and has made their classic croissant a pilgrimage-worthy treat for locals and visitors alike. Patrons often describe the experience of stumbling upon the shop as finding a little piece of Paris. One customer recounted, "Randomly walking around Park Slope when I came across this place. Looked through the window and saw the most appetizing Croissants I have ever seen outside of France. Sold. Walked in and heard some of the customers speaking French. Truly sold. Tried the Croissants, Muffin Croissant and the Pain Au Chocolat. Amazing. This place is legit good. So happy with my new discovery!" This sentiment captures the essence of what Brooklyn French Bakers delivers—an authentic, delightful, and truly French experience.

For first-time visitors or regular patrons looking for the absolute best, the selection at Brooklyn French Bakers offers several must-try items. Unquestionably, the most recommended item is their Croissant. Having won the "Best Croissant in New York" award, this pastry is celebrated for its perfectly light, flaky layers and rich, buttery flavor, which is often described as truly comparable to those found in Paris. The Almond Croissant and Pain Au Chocolat are also highly praised for their quality and authenticity, with one customer noting their "appetizing" look even from the window.
In the bread category, the Baguette is considered a best-seller and a favorite among locals. Many argue it is one of the best in Park Slope, possessing the classic crusty exterior and chewy, flavorful interior that defines a perfect French loaf. The Organic Sourdough Bread is another popular choice for those seeking an artisanal, naturally-leavened loaf.
While the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, it is important to note that, as with any high-volume artisanal bakery, occasional inconsistencies can occur, particularly with items like the chausson aux pommes (apple turnover). One review mentioned issues with filling amounts during busy periods. However, the consistent praise for the quality of the core offerings—the croissants and bread—and the "lovely" customer service from the cashiers demonstrate that the overall experience remains highly worthwhile.
Ultimately, if you're craving an authentic French boulangerie experience in New York, Brooklyn French Bakers offers world-class pastries and breads, backed by authentic French ownership and a prestigious local award. Stop by the Park Slope location to grab a life-changing croissant and transport your taste buds straight to the streets of France.

September 18 · Yves LaRouxI first discovered this place last month. The first time I had it was the best & had me coming back. Quite pricey at $5 for chausson aux pommes however I was willing to pay. I've been back about 3-5 times since then & it's been a disaster since. The chausson aux pommes have mostly been filler with air & no apple at all. I even got one today & not only was there no apple pureé but the little pureé seemed like it was water down & didn't even taste like apple at all no exaggeration, just water. Please make enough pureé & share it evenly between all the pastries because I've wasted my money each time buying air. For that price, they should be perfect each time. It's happened atleast 3 times to me so I had to address it...There is another French bakery in the neighborhood & their chausson aux pommes is filled with a beautiful amount of pomme pureé & beautifully flaky pastry (which is another thing that I could complain about but I understand that sometimes the flakiness may be harder to achieve so I was willing to overlook that). The only reason I gave two stars was because of the cashiers that are always lovely when I come in.
May 16 · Christina SGood coffee and croissant was good, very light,I could have eaten 10 of them and not been bloated. Cinnamon roll was fantastic.
March 16 · Nicholas LiverisBest croissant in the state! I got the almond and the plain croissant, and they are out of this world. Both are buttery, have a good crust and perfectly flakery. The staff is so nice that when I circle back for the second round, he secretly gave me an extra croissant 🫶
July 14 · Hien Anh Phuong LeService was good and space was clean. The baguette was very good but croissant was soft and not flaky / crispy. Would come back for baguette next time.
