Dolce Brooklyn - Artisanal Gelato & Ice Cream Introduce
Dolce Brooklyn, situated in the charming and historic Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn, stands out not just as a local ice cream parlor but as a dedicated artisanal gelateria and all-day coffee bar. It offers a sophisticated, yet family-friendly, spot for New Yorkers to satisfy their sweet tooth and coffee cravings in one welcoming location. The shop’s focus on genuine, high-quality ingredients, small-batch production, and catering to various dietary needs makes it a standout destination among the many dessert spots in the city.
The spirit of Dolce Brooklyn is rooted in authenticity. Unlike traditional ice cream, their gelato is made in the Italian style—richer, denser, and with less butterfat, allowing the true flavors of the ingredients to shine through. This commitment to traditional methods, coupled with a distinctly local New York touch, has earned the shop a loyal following. It is a place where you can quickly grab a morning espresso, linger over an afternoon dessert, or pick up a pint of handcrafted goodness for your next dinner party. It identifies as a women-owned business, adding to its unique profile within the bustling local community. For those seeking quality, fresh, and carefully crafted desserts and coffee, Dolce Brooklyn serves as a beloved neighborhood institution.
Dolce Brooklyn is conveniently located at 204 Sackett Street, placing it squarely in the heart of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NY 11231. This area, known for its picturesque brownstones, quiet streets, and independent shops, makes the gelateria an ideal spot for locals and visitors to relax and enjoy a treat.
The location is highly accessible for those traveling within New York City. The shop is easily reachable via public transportation, with several subway lines serving the nearby area, making it a quick trip from many parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. As a local establishment, the shop is designed to be a convenient stop for neighborhood residents, whether they are walking home from work, enjoying a weekend stroll, or looking for a post-dinner treat.
For patrons arriving from elsewhere, the physical storefront is nestled in a highly walkable part of the borough, often referred to as Cobble Hill, near the border with Carroll Gardens. While the shop may be small and cozy, often described as a 'tiny shop,' its location features shaded outdoor seating, providing a pleasant environment to enjoy your purchase, especially during the warmer months. Given its prime position, it's also a perfect ‘bidén spot’ for people coming over from Manhattan who want a genuinely great, but still slightly under-the-radar, dessert experience.

For first-timers or long-time New York customers, deciding on a single treat at Dolce Brooklyn can be tough given the variety. However, there are several items that stand out based on popularity, unique flavor profile, and quality.
The Serious Chocolate Gelato is a must-try for chocolate enthusiasts. It is an intense, velvety mix of European chocolates, described as being for the 'true chocolate devotee.' Another top-liked flavor is the Salted Caramel Gelato, which achieves the perfect balance of housemade soft caramel and sea salt. Customers who prefer something with a lighter, fresher taste often rave about the Mint Stracciatella Gelato and the Pistachio Gelato, which one reviewer specifically mentioned as 'both great.'
For those who prefer dairy-free or vegan options, the sorbetto selection is exceptionally popular. The Mango Sorbetto and the Sicilian Lemon Sorbetto are noted best-sellers, offering a bright, pure fruit experience. The Strawberry-Basil Sorbetto, made using a French mum's recipe, offers a unique and tantalizing blend of sweet and aromatic flavors that speaks to the shop's commitment to creative, high-quality ingredients.
Finally, don't overlook the Mini Sundae. This is an excellent value option that allows you to combine your favorite gelato flavor with a macaron and a topping, providing a perfect sample of the best of Dolce Brooklyn in a single cup. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Delicious place - I love places where the only bad review is a gripe on the price or amount. Price was fine, we got more scoops it was more than enough and definitely took 30+ bites to eat. Not sure how the hoarse from another review finished in 9 bites but human bites definitely take way more than that. lol . Friendly people, more than happy to let four of us try flavors and decide on our picks. Espresso pretty good to for helping wash everything down :-)
July 12 · michael shinderamazing gelato and not overhyped like some of the other spots. love that it’s still a bit under the radar. great post-dinner stop and ideal if you’re hosting and want to pick up a pint. biden spot for the manhattan people. pistachio and stracciatella were both great.
July 23 · Alison PouwCute little shop with some delicious macaroons. Good place to stop by and rest for a moment while perusing Brooklyn on foot. Thoroughly enjoyed the macaroons, got 6 different flavors and there were no misses!
August 02 · Camille AllumsAfter a few years living in the neighborhood I feel like I can make a good review. I’ve tried a lot of the flavors. I liked it better when it was a little walk up. I think the gelato is overpriced for the amount. I definitely do not think this place is worth traveling far and wide for. Staff is friendly and helpful.
September 10 · Lanie EastVery good ice cream. Excellent macarons and a great variety of toppings to choose from.
