What is Worth Choosing
When navigating the menu at Dougie's Jamaican Cuisine, particularly for New Yorkers eager to experience authentic Caribbean cooking, a few categories and dishes stand out. The restaurant is widely recognized for its robust, classic Jamaican meat dishes. The Oxtail is often cited as a cornerstone of Jamaican cuisine and at Dougie's, the Oxtail is a popular choice, offered in both a Medium ($25.00) and Large ($30.00) size for a truly satisfying meal. Similarly, the Curry Goat ($15.00 for Medium) is a deeply flavorful and aromatic selection that showcases the power of Caribbean spices. Both dishes are typically served as a meal with traditional sides like Rice & Peas and a salad or steamed vegetables, making them complete, hearty dinners.
For a lighter yet equally satisfying option, the Jerk Chicken is another must-try. The smoky, spicy, and perfectly marinated chicken represents one of Jamaica's most famous culinary exports. Customers can opt for a meal portion ($15.00 for Medium) or a smaller, meat-only portion ($10.00 for Small) for a quicker bite. Additionally, starting your day with a traditional island breakfast, such as the Ackee & Saltfish or one of the authentic porridges like Cornmeal Porridge, provides a unique and nourishing alternative to typical New York breakfast fare.
Beyond the main dishes, customers should explore the drink menu for an authentic pairing. The homemade juices, such as the Island Passion Juice ($5.00), offer a refreshing and tropical counterpoint to the rich, seasoned food. Dougie's commitment to offering a complete spectrum of Jamaican food, from breakfast porridges to slow-cooked meats and refreshing island drinks, is what makes it a valuable culinary destination in the Brooklyn area.

July 03 · Jermaine JameisonI just got food from oxtail from here the gravy looks how it taste bad. Who ever is the new chef they have gone from good to bad to worse very disappointed will not order from here again. The food is not lively in the slightest. Waste of money
February 23 · Christina BrumleyI've tried and tried with Dougie's but the inconsistencies have gotten so out of hand, it should be illegal. I don't know if the cooks are being switched out too often, if the business is overwhelmed with orders and is cutting corners out of laziness or what, but patrons beware. It's now to the point where I'm not even sure what they're giving us to eat. No matter how mi BEG them to make the chicken well done with no raw pieces they ALWAYS find a way to ruin the order. The fact that a customer even has to request COOKED well done chicken is insane. It's like playing Russian roulette with this business. You NEVER KNOW what you're gonna get. When it's cooked well it's great and flavorful but that is a RARE occurrence. The orders almost always include raw chicken. I don't know what they're doing in their kitchen but it's clear them nuh give a DAMN.
September 06 · Crys RonJust got my food from uber eats. It’s Bland asf smh. Curry chicken, steamed veg, and white rice all flavorless!
March 24 · Alyssa Frasier8-12-2025 9:00pmI just purchased 2 peas soups from that restaurant, the soups were watery, 3 round little potatoes with no meat, no provisions.I called the restaurant within 5 minutes, I introduced myself, the young lady who served me, remember who I was. I told her why didn’t she say she didn’t have soup, because I work hard for my money, I told her, she just lost a customer. She was speechless.😒😒
