El Patio stands out in the New Jersey food scene, particularly in Bergen County, as a beacon for authentic Dominican comfort food. What makes this restaurant truly worth choosing is the combination of an incredibly extensive, traditional menu and a commitment to convenience and accessibility for the local community. For many, it’s the place to find the comforting, home-style Dominican cooking they crave, whether that's a savory stew, perfectly seasoned Pernil, or a fulfilling breakfast plate to start the day. The inclusion of free parking and a family-friendly atmosphere adds to its appeal as a practical and enjoyable local dining spot. If you are in New Jersey and looking for a restaurant that offers a taste of the Caribbean with a focus on hearty, quality food, El Patio in Bogota is a highly recommended stop.
While the overall sentiment towards El Patio centers on its authentic flavors and satisfying portions, as with any bustling establishment, customer experiences can vary. One customer specifically praised the quality of the empanadas, Arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas), and the deliciousness of the Pernil (roast pork), calling it a "Great hole in the wall in Teaneck" (likely referencing the general area proximity). They highlighted the good price and overall quality of the food. However, it is important to note that a separate, isolated review mentioned an unfortunate and unacceptable incident involving the perceived presence of mold in a tuna salad order, which led to a negative health concern and disappointment for that local patron. This underscores the need for businesses to maintain rigorous quality control standards, and while it is not the typical experience, prospective customers should always be mindful of product freshness. Despite this isolated concern, the extensive menu and array of positive feedback regarding key Dominican dishes suggest El Patio remains a valued spot for many seeking authentic Dominican cuisine in the North Jersey region.
The wide variety of dishes, available for dine-in, takeout, or delivery, ensures that New Jersey residents can access their favorite Dominican meals whenever the craving hits. From a quick Cubano sandwich during lunch to a full Mofongo dinner, El Patio is positioned as a local culinary hub. The restaurant's popularity for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with its specialized offerings like Sancocho and grilled meats, solidifies its role in bringing a piece of the Dominican Republic's rich gastronomic heritage to Bogota, NJ.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered frequently from this restaurant as I believed the food taste and price were acceptable. However, on Tuesday 12/17/24 I placed an order for pick up. When I received my food I noticed there was mold in the tuna salad. (Picture attached). I sent a picture to the restaurant for awareness and the cook/manager denied it was mold and stated the tuna salad is only 3 days old. I explained to him (in Spanish) that what had the appearance of spider webs was in fact mold. My family and I did not eat our meals but disposed of it as we did not have an appetite after experiencing this health concern with the food. I am a local and will NEVER be dining from this restaurant again!
December 18 · Maximus ThegreatGood price. The chicken and beef empanadas are really good. Arroz con gandules is off the hook. And the pernil/roast pork if delicious. Great hole in the wall in Teaneck. Glad I found it!
April 30 · Felix Omar NarvaezI went to El patio today and ordered a picadera for 8 . They took really good care of me and the food is excellent. Freshly made and full of flavor . They treated me well .
June 19 · L R79Bad food and expensive. I requested rice with chicken on sauce and the waiter give me only chicken bones. Was so really bad
August 15 · Jey Fabian. Robayo R1. The pictures are very misleading.2. The food is ok. The Pollo Guisado was lacking flavor and on the bland side. The potato salad was ok.
