★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My husband and I have passed by this tiny Ecuadorian spot enough times that we promised ourselves we'd finally sate our curiosity and give it a try. Clearly, we weren't the target audience for this store. Whatever signs are up are solely in Spanish, and when my husband had a question about one of the pastries, the lady behind the counter asked hopefully, "Hablas español?" That said, the service is the sweetest. She was so eager to respond to our questions that she pulled out her phone to translate her answers. With cultural unfamiliarity and language barriers in place, my husband and I just poked around and picked a few random things to try. With the kind woman's aid, we chose two cheese breads and a walnut-studded pastry from the fridge. Our lottery picks had mixed results. Both cheese breads had a soft, milky pastry, but the one filled with cream cheese was far, far better than the one with American cheese. The walnut bread from the fridge was absolutely scrumptious. I could complain and tell you it was just a smidge on the drier side, but that wouldn't explain why I couldn't seem to stop eating the entire thing in one sitting.Speaking of sitting, there are a few tables and chairs inside. Not only was it convenient for we curious and adventuring Asians, I imagine it'd be nice for those dropping by for the hot plate offerings available. I couldn't tell you the name of anything I'd eaten or what's typically offered, but this is a sweet neighborhood spot run by some hardworking folks and we were glad to have stopped by.
