What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Guk Su Jip in Flushing, New Yorkers should focus on the restaurant's signature noodle and rice dishes, which define its authentic Korean and Asian identity.
The Signature Noodle Experience: The paramount choice is the Signature Cold Noodles (특색 연변 냉면). This dish, often served with an icy, slightly fruity broth, is an absolute favorite for its refreshing qualities and the "perfect chewy texture" of the noodles. It’s an ideal choice, especially during New York’s warmer months. For those who prefer a spicy, brothless option, the SPICY COLD NOODLE (비빔 냉면) or the Spicy Mix Noodle (비빔 국수) are excellent alternatives, offering a tangy, bold, and fully satisfying kick.
The Comforting Counterpart: For a heartier meal or a dish for a colder day, the Dolsot Bibimbap is highly recommended. Specifically, the Beef Hot stone rice (갈비 돌솥비빔밥) comes in a sizzling stone bowl, creating a crispy layer of rice at the bottom that is essential to the dish. For a lighter but equally flavorful option, the Tofu Hot stone rice is an excellent choice.
Must-Try Side and Soup: Do not overlook the Side (요리) dishes. The Sweet sour pork (꿔보러우 / Guobao Rou) is a popular Korean-Chinese classic known for its perfect balance of crispy texture and tangy sauce. For soup lovers, the Banquet noodle Soup (잔치 국수) is praised for its "light and comforting" broth, providing a delicate contrast to the spicier options. Finally, take advantage of the perfectly prepared complimentary banchan (side dishes), which critics often highlight as a sign of the kitchen’s high standards. Choosing these combinations ensures you experience the best of Guk Su Jip's specialized and authentic Asian cuisine.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love this place. The food was delicious. Even all the banchan is prepared perfectly. Especially the bean sprout dish was so good. The cold buckwheat noodle soup is my old time favorite. I love the noodle texture and the flavors. Freshly made vegetable dumplings are so yummy too. It’s a tip free restaurant.
April 26 · MiYon YunFirst time visiting this Korean noodle spot, and I was seriously impressed! Came around 12:00 PM for lunch — super fast service and very friendly staff 👍🍜 I got the $2 Spicy Mixed Noodles + Mini Katsu combo — such a great deal! The noodles were tangy, spicy, and full of flavor, with a perfect chewy texture. The mini pork cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy inside — a perfect match!🍲 My friend ordered the Banquet Noodle Soup (Eomuk Janchi Guksu) — the broth was light and comforting, with fish cakes and noodles, great for when you want something less spicy.❄️ Lastly, we tried the Signature Cold Noodles (Naengmyeon) — absolutely refreshing for a hot day! The icy broth had a slight fruity note and paired so well with the chewy noodles. Super satisfying and cooling!Overall, a great variety of dishes, fair prices, and authentic flavors. Definitely a spot I’d return to. Highly recommend coming during lunch — the value is unbeatable!
July 11 · Jimmy ZhaoThere was a lot of noise about this restaurant in Flushing online. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but as soon as I had friends not living in Flushing wanting to go, I knew I had to come try it.When I walked in on a Saturday lunch, it was packed and there was a line, which is not unusual, but still says a lot about a restaurant. Fortunately, we didn’t wait too long. The overall atmosphere is homey. It’s not the most beautifully executed, but I imagine this is what a Korean mom with no official design background would design it as. It evoked a sense of warmth, maybe because the lady taking the orders was also very sweet. The fact that it’s very affordable and has a no-tip policy was a cherry on top. There is a self-service station for water and side dishes. The kimchi, bean sprout salad, and macaroni salad were all delicious (I didn't try the radish salad). They served our dishes to us, which was surprising because there's a pick-up station. I suppose that's because that area could get crowded and cause issues? The timing of the foods was off, which was a bummer. The beef noodle soup came out first, but we weren't hungry because of the tasty side dishes. The Beef Noodle Soup was beyond my expectations; it was so delicious. I can't describe it well because it's been a while since my first visit, but it was amazing. The Marinated Grilled Pork Jowl was juicy and tender, and its spice sprinkled on top gave it a good Yanbian kick. The Signature Cold Noodle Soup was also good. It's a Yanbian-style cold noodle, so it might be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of dish for some people. On my second visit, there was no wait since it was an early weekday dinner. I ordered the Spicy Mix Noodle + Mini Katsu set menu, and it was so delicious. The Mini Katsu came out first, perfectly golden and well-fried, and the side salad was great for cleansing the palate. On the first bite, I was shocked by how good it was. It had a nice crisp and was perfectly thinly coated, and the meat was easy to bite into. The Spicy Mix Noodles weren't too chewy, and the sweet and spicy flavors were just right. I was honestly surprised by how great this set was.I was also surprised by how clean the bathrooms were. At this point, are there any problems? This is the kind of restaurant that I'd want to visit once a week. If I lived closer to the area. I hope more restaurants like this pop up in NYC.
August 18 · Won KoOverall atmosphere is really nice and the service there is top tier. The portions of the food is pretty good and above average for how much food you get for the cost. The price of the dishes are really good and really worth it. Unlike other restaurants, you pay at the front and then sit down and wait for them to bring your food but they leave a sign when you enter saying no tip which is a bummer since they’re so nice.
September 05 · cirryATE DOWN WITH THE FOOD AND SERVICE!! I wanted to sub the second set with the spicy cold noodle and the waitress was more than happy to do so for my friend and I! It is a self service restaurant but when I say the side dishes and drinks WELL made up for it. The pictures speak for themselves. Please come here on a warm summer day or cold winter night.
