Jeera Introduce
For New Yorkers on the go who prioritize both flavor and wellness, Jeera presents a compelling, modern answer to fast-casual dining. This unique establishment, located in Garden City, NY, is not just a takeout restaurant but a dedicated health food kitchen specializing in innovative and satisfying Indian-inspired meals. It brilliantly merges the robust, aromatic spices of Indian cuisine with a fresh, health-conscious approach, offering an excellent alternative to conventional fast food.
Jeera operates with a clear focus on convenience and quality, making it a favorite for busy individuals, families, and professionals in the Long Island area seeking nutritious options. They have successfully carved a niche as a place where you can grab a wholesome lunch or dinner—often centered around their signature wraps and bowls—without compromising on taste. Its identity as a women-owned business also adds a meaningful layer to its professional and dedicated service model.
The culinary philosophy here embraces modern adaptations of traditional flavors, featuring organic dishes, small plates, and an impressive array of vegetarian and vegan choices. This commitment to diverse dietary needs ensures that Jeera appeals to a broad audience, from dedicated meat-eaters to those seeking purely plant-based meals. The innovative menu, which moves away from the typical heavy curries often associated with traditional Indian dining, is a breath of fresh air for the New York food scene.
Jeera is situated at 2 South St, Garden City, NY 11530. It is important for local customers and those traveling from other boroughs or Long Island neighborhoods to note the establishment's unique operational setup. While it shares an address in the Garden City area, Jeera functions primarily as a ghost kitchen or cloud kitchen, operating out of a space located behind the well-known Akbar Restaurant. This means that, unlike a traditional storefront restaurant, there is no public-facing dining room or visible retail front for walk-in orders.
For customers in New York, all orders must be placed remotely, either online or over the phone. While this setup may initially confuse those attempting to locate a traditional storefront, it streamlines the takeout and delivery process, aligning with a modern, efficiency-focused model. Accessibility is therefore defined by their robust service options, which include delivery and drive-through for quick pick-up, ensuring the convenience of a fast, fresh meal remains paramount. Customers should look for signage or inquire upon arrival, keeping in mind the primary focus is off-premise dining.
Jeera offers a variety of service options focused entirely on customer convenience and speed, perfect for the demanding New York pace of life:
- Takeout/Pickup: All orders must be placed in advance, online or over the phone, and picked up from the designated location.
- Delivery: Offering prompt delivery to local areas, bringing fresh meals directly to your door.
- No-Contact Delivery: A safe and convenient option that minimizes physical interaction upon delivery.
- Drive-Through: Facilitating quick and easy collection of pre-ordered meals, ideal for customers in a hurry.
- Dine-in: While the primary model is takeout/delivery, the possibility of limited dining options should be confirmed directly with the restaurant.
- Meal Offerings: Catering to both lunch and dinner crowds with a menu designed for small plates and individual, satisfying portions.
Jeera stands out from the crowd of local New York eateries due to several key differentiators that appeal to the health-conscious and modern diner:
- Modern Indian Focus: A contemporary twist on Indian flavors, prioritizing fresh, lighter, and health-focused ingredients over heavy, traditional preparations.
- Health Food Commitment: The menu features numerous organic dishes and is built around providing a genuinely nutritious meal option.
- Vegan and Vegetarian-Friendly: A strong emphasis on plant-based dining is evident, with dedicated Vegan Wraps, including Minced Impossible Meat and Roasted Cauliflower options, alongside Smashed Paneer, and small bites like the Vegan Brownie dessert included with all wraps.
- Innovative Menu Items: Beyond traditional fare, customers can enjoy Signature Wraps like Thai Basil Chicken and Smashed Paneer, along with Filo-wrapped Snack Rolls and pre-dressed Salads such as The Farro and The Slaw.
- Diverse Sauce Selection: A range of thoughtfully created sauces to customize your meal, including Mint Yogurt Sauce (Gluten Free), Beet Ketchup (Vegan, Gluten Free), and Zesty Aioli (Vegan, Gluten Free).
- Women-Owned Business: Proudly identifies as a women-owned business, contributing to the diversity of local entrepreneurship in New York.
- Commitment to Quality: Customers consistently praise the food for being delicious, flavorful, fresh, and light.
To place an order or make an inquiry, New York-based customers should use the following contact details:
Address: 2 South St, Garden City, NY 11530
Phone: (646) 859-3340 or (516) 747-5811 (Note: Multiple phone numbers may be associated, confirming the direct line for placing orders is recommended.)
Customers are strongly advised to call ahead or use the online ordering platform to ensure a smooth pickup or delivery experience, as the location is not set up for casual walk-in traffic.
Jeera is well worth choosing for New York residents seeking a high-quality, quick, and satisfying meal that is distinct from standard takeout. The primary value lies in its unique blend of Indian-inspired tastes and health-conscious ingredients. The restaurant offers a curated, thoughtful menu that takes the guesswork out of healthy eating, providing pre-set sides and carefully portioned meals. This structured approach, though different from build-your-own concepts, ensures a balanced and flavorful outcome every time.
The dedication to fresh ingredients, as highlighted by reviews praising the food as 'terrific,' 'delicious,' and 'flavorful,' makes it a reliable choice for daily dining. For those with specific dietary requirements, the abundance of organic, vegetarian, and inventive vegan options—like the popular pulled jackfruit—is a major draw. Moreover, the efficiency of their ghost kitchen model, offering speedy delivery and drive-through collection, fits perfectly into the fast-paced lifestyle of the New York metro area.
The inclusion of unique, complimentary touches, such as the rose-infused vegan brownie with wraps, adds a delightful and unexpected finish to the meal. While some customers note the portions are sized to match the roughly $10 price point, the focus on fresh, high-quality, and nutrient-dense food justifies the cost. For those in Garden City and surrounding Long Island neighborhoods, Jeera provides a delicious, modern, and trustworthy option for a healthy Indian-inspired meal that can be seamlessly integrated into a busy schedule.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I found this place while at my dr's office. So here's the thing- there isn't a store front and it's just a kitchen located behind Akbar. All orders must be placed online or over the phone, do you can't see what you're adding. The sides are already set so you also can't really choose your sides like you do at Chipotle or Little Beet. The container is also smaller than other takeouts, but the price (about $10) meets the portion size. Now for the food-terrific. I got their pulled jackfruit over brown rice, beets, Brussels sprouts, and a side of avocado for an extra 25 cents. The jackfruit was like bbq pulled pork but a little mushier. Flavor was good, but sometimes a bit much. The vegetable sides helps balance it out. As for dressing I got citrus garlic which was basically toum. I absolutely love toum so this was ok. I could probably eat a jar of this stuff. Overall, the food was good and I think I will order from them again in the future. The location is kinda questionable though. I saw some customers try to look for the place and looked absolutely confused. Lol.
August 06 · Judy ChauOverall, I enjoyed the food from Jeera! The chicken bowl and lamb wrap were delicious. I would encourage the owners to make their portion sizes bigger for both. The wrap was definitely overpriced for the size it comes as.I think this place could attract and keep more customers with a few modifications.
August 28 · EssThis place is a rare find and the food was super delicious. I'm in the area for work and wanted to grab a quick bite. I ordered a lamb bowl and a thai basil wrap and they were both great.Their hospitality also gets a 5 star. I was greeted at the door by a very nice lady who gave me the recommendations. The god came out super quick and the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I'm excited to try out other items in their menu if I'm back in the neighborhood..Also, I have to mention that I love the sustainable packaging! Kudos!!
June 03 · M BI stumbled upon this place by chance, and I’m really happy I did! The whole wheat wrap they used has a very unique flavor that definitely tasted homemade. I especially loved the farro salad because I’m a big fan of beets. Can’t wait to order again! Highly recommend.
April 20 · Carlos Hernan GutierrezDelicious and flavorful! Highly recommend Jeera and I’ll definitely be ordering frequently from now on. The food was fresh, light, and incredibly satisfying while thankfully not being too spicy or heavy. I had the chargrilled chicken and pulled jackfruit rolls (vegan!) and was super happy with my choices. The rolls came in beautiful and thoughtfully designed packaging and were delightful in every bite. The sauces that came with them also really elevated the meal and left me wanting more - highly recommend the mint yogurt, the zesty aioli and the beet ketchup. For drinks I’d highly recommend the smoky margarita which went great with the rolls and was miles better than several overpriced cocktails I’ve had at bars in Manhattan. The rose flavored chocolate squares the order came with were also delicious and a perfect end to the meal. Kudos Jeera - you’ve got a fan!
