Let There Be Bagels Introduce
### Introduction / Overview
For New York residents, the bagel is more than just a breakfast food; it's a foundational part of the culinary landscape. In Port Washington, Long Island, **Let There Be Bagels** has been a neighborhood fixture for over 35 years, evolving from a small deli focused on simple bagels and breakfast sandwiches to a comprehensive establishment offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and full catering services. This longevity in a region known for discerning bagel enthusiasts is a testament to their commitment to tradition and quality.
The core of the business revolves around producing an authentic New York bagel. Unlike many competitors who rely on frozen, shipped products, Let There Be Bagels prides itself on having its bagels **rolled, boiled, and baked from scratch, right in the store, daily**. This dedication to the craft ensures a freshness and texture that loyal customers crave. Beyond the iconic bagel, the shop has expanded its offerings to include a massive selection of menu items, satisfying every craving from sun-up to sundown.
The customer experience at Let There Be Bagels is highlighted by the sheer variety available. One positive review raves, "Very fresh and amazing selection of so many options of food, snacks and beverages. So many you’ll definitely find something you’d like to eat here." They serve a full line of classic **Breakfast** items like the beloved **bacon egg & cheese** sandwich, as well as an extensive selection of **Baked Goods**, a robust **JUICE BAR**, and fully-loaded **Deli Sandwiches** and **Salad Platters**. The selection of bagels alone is immense, featuring traditional flavors alongside specialty options like **Russian Pumpernickel**, **7 Grain Raisin**, and various diet choices, including **Gluten Free Bagels**, **Low Carb Bagels**, and specialty diet bagels that are **Fat Free, Reduced Salt, and No Sugar**.
While the vast and fresh selection is a major draw, recent customer feedback suggests an inconsistency in food quality and pricing for specific non-bagel items, such as the deli sandwiches, which should be considered by new customers. However, the consistent praise for the core bagel and bakery products confirms its status as a reliable spot for a fresh morning start or a quick, satisfying snack.

### What is Worth Choosing
For a first-time visitor or a returning local at Let There Be Bagels, the clear recommendation lies in the products the shop is famous for: its freshly baked bagels and classic breakfast fare.
**The Must-Try Bagel Experience:** Start with a bagel and cream cheese, as this is the core item praised for being "Very fresh" and baked from scratch. Popular choices include the classic **Everything** or **Plain**, or you might venture into their specialty selections like the hearty **7 Grain Raisin** or the savory **Russian Pumpernickel**. For a traditional New York breakfast, pair a freshly baked bagel with one of their famous and well-regarded egg sandwiches, such as the classic **bacon egg & cheese** or an **Egg & Cheese with a 16oz coffee** combo.
**For Lunch and Beyond:** The shop’s deli and sandwich counter offers compelling options, particularly the **Fish Sandwiches on a Bagel** with premium selections like **Smoked Salmon and Special Cream Cheese** or the more upscale **Smoked Sable or Sturgeon**. These choices utilize the fresh bagel base perfectly. If you are ordering for an office or a group, their comprehensive menu ensures variety, with popular lunch items ranging from **Hot Panini Sandwiches and Wraps** to their extensive **Salad Platter** options.
**Dietary Considerations:** For those watching their intake, the shop is one of the few places in the area offering dedicated **Gluten Free Bagels** and low-calorie/diet varieties, proving you don't have to sacrifice the bagel experience. Finally, a stop at the bakery section, which is a "wow factor," is essential, even if it's just to enjoy the aroma of the fresh **Muffins, Brownies, or Croissants**.
While one recent customer review mentioned a negative experience with a turkey sandwich regarding both quality and value, the vast majority of public data and other testimonials emphasize the quality and variety of their baked goods and classic breakfast menu. By focusing on their homemade bagels and robust breakfast selections, customers can fully appreciate why Let There Be Bagels has remained a Port Washington institution for decades.

Let There Be Bagels Reviews
I’m not sure if this is a new owner or what’s going on but all I can say is wow. I used to come here every so often and it was decent. Went here today and it was honestly HORRIBLE. I ordered a turkey sandwich . Half the amount of meat they usually put on a sandwich ( I don’t like a huge sandwich) lettuce and Swiss cheese. A vitamin water, small bag of chips and this tiny piece of carrot cake. All together it came to $26.00!! I couldn’t believe the price .. I understand everything has gone up but $26.00 was absurd. On top of it, the sandwich was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. It was disgusting. The Turkey was hard and slimy.. and two TINY slivers of cheese. look at the photos.. what is that?!? Place is a joke. Owner should take a little more pride or this place will be closed sooner than later
April 16 · Michael PallottaDropped off the kids at school then I was craving a delicious bagel and what’s better then a bagel shop for a bagel ? Nothing! Came here to have breakfast with my wife and we enjoyed a blueberry bagel and mini plain bagel with coffees. Very fresh and amazing selection of so many options of food, snacks and beverages. So many you’ll definitely find something you’d like to eat here. The bakery section is a wow factor but since I’m on a little diet I didn’t do it but if you’re not watching what you’re eating definitely go crazy. Highly recommend for people to enjoy breakfast and even lunch here.
March 21 · Jiovani RiveraAfter being a loyal customer for 20+ years, I will never be returning. I walked into the entirely empty bagel store and waited 4 minutes before even being spoken to by an employee, who was rude once she finally decided to take my order. They were out of the type of bagel I wanted, so I just ordered egg bagels. I waited until I got home to check the bag of bagels and that was a big mistake. All three bagels were rock hard and burnt (and I’m assuming also stale). They were completely inedible. I drove back to the store and went in and showed the same employee how the bagels she gave me were rock hard and burnt. I said since they were inedible I just wanted my money back. She didn’t even utter a word to me. She just sighed and handed me my money back. I also found gross hard black things in the tuna salad. I don’t know what they could even be; I just hope they weren’t bugs! There are so many better bagel stores and delis in the area. I don’t know how this place is still in business. Avoid at all costs!
June 28 · Angela SRJ last brought me here in 2016 and we were glad to see its still fantastic. If you are bagel lovers like us, this is bagel heaven for sure. I have to let RJ order for me because I would get one of everything. We ordered bacon, egg, and cheese on sesame and salt bagels, and got 2 dozen bagels to go. The sesame ended up being the best for freezing, salt bagels don't freeze well. We also got a few egg, plain, and cinnamon raisin. I would relocate to NY to be near these bagels.
August 19 · key limeAfter 7 years on LI, my search for the perfect best bagel is over. Finally, I found the bagel with a just-right texture, perfect taste, proper seasoning. The dark crust with a just perfect sense, chewy interior. Finally, not bread that pretend to be a bagel. Not flat, not bready,, and finally, a bagel that doesn't require tasting! Hallelujah! Even the hole in the middle is just right! Just one suggestion if the owner wants to make his/ her bagels even more perfect: make the crust more shiny and crackly,, you know, the kind of crust that's covered in little microblisters.
