Choosing Max Ceylon Curry restaurant means selecting a truly authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience that is hard to find elsewhere in the NYC metropolitan area. It’s an establishment that consistently receives high praise from diners who value both the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. One of the most compelling reasons to visit is the opportunity to explore dishes that are staples of the Sri Lankan diet, expertly prepared for the New York palate. The menu is expansive, but a few categories truly stand out.
For a complete, satisfying meal, consider one of the Rice & Curry Dishes, which pair a rich curry (like vegetable, chicken, fish, or beef/mutton) with rice and sides. This is the heart of everyday Sri Lankan cuisine. The Max Ceylon Kottu is another crowd-pleaser; this dish, made of chopped up Godhamba roti, stir-fried with vegetables, eggs, and your choice of protein, is a flavorful and texturally exciting experience. You can choose from options like Vegetable ($15.00), Chicken / Pork ($17.00), Beef ($18.00), or Mixed ($20.00).
Another specialty worth exploring is Max Ceylon Lumpriais. This dish involves rice cooked in stock, a protein (like fish, chicken, or seafood), a curry, and various side dishes, all wrapped in a banana leaf and baked, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. It’s a dish that embodies the rich, composite nature of Sri Lankan cooking. For something a little lighter, the appetizers, or 'short eats,' like the Fish Roll or Chicken Roti, are perfect for sampling the flavors of the island quickly and affordably. Don't forget to ask about the Sunday Buffete for a chance to try a selection of the best curries and dishes they have to offer for a very reasonable price.
With its delicious food, friendly staff, and convenient services like dine-in, takeout, and delivery, Max Ceylon Curry is more than just a restaurant; it’s a Staten Island landmark offering a much-needed burst of vibrant, authentic Sri Lankan flavor to the New York region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Delicious food with real Sri Lankan flavor! The curries are full of spice and taste just like home. Portions are big, prices are fair, and the staff is always friendly. Sometimes service is a little slow, but it’s worth it for the fresh food. One of the best Sri Lankan restaurants around! 🇱🇰🍛
October 11 · Sadew SandarageTasty food, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere. Loved everything about this cute little place. Will definitely come back!
June 20 · Harshaa PathiranaI used to be a regular customer here when it was Ceylon Curry, but since it became Max Ceylon Curry, the quality has dropped. Twice in a row, my orders were packed with fewer items than I paid.In my last two visits, I’ve had serious issues with how they handle orders:1. On my most recent visit, I ordered 6 egg hoppers and 6 plain hoppers, but they only gave me 5 egg hoppers.2.On the visit before that, I went with friends. We ate at the restaurant and also ordered takeout. One of my friends ordered 4 egg rotis, but they only packed 3, even though they billed us for 4.When I called to inform them about the missing items, all I got was a casual “sorry.” No accountability, no solution. I would strongly recommend double-checking your order before leaving, or better yet, considering other options.
September 18 · AkhithaThe best place to have Sri Lankan food is in NYC. You have to take the Staten Island Ferry, and you can either walk or take an Uber. It's totally worth it. The food is not expensive, and the staff is very friendly. The food is exactly like in Sri Lanka, with the same spices and freshness. You must try the lamprais and chicken kottu. The portions are generous. The place is somewhat spacious, and I highly recommend it if you are near NYC. It's even better than Sigiri.
July 30 · Navanjalee P.W.N.The food was absolutely delicious, and the hospitality was warm and welcoming. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that beautifully captures the essence of Sri Lanka, making the whole experience feel authentic and inviting.
