What is Worth Choosing: The True Flavor of Old Duck Soup
While the menu is expansive and offers plenty of excellent Chinese comfort staples—from savory dumplings to hearty fried rice—what truly sets Mr. Duck apart and makes it a destination for New York foodies is its masterful execution of the signature Duck Offal Vermicelli Soup (Lao Ya Fen Si Tang).
This soup is far more than a simple broth. It is a slow-cooked delicacy, resulting in a rich, milky, and deeply savory liquid that perfectly coats the vermicelli noodles and the various pieces of duck offal (like duck blood, gizzard, and liver). The care taken with the preparation is evident; as one satisfied customer noted, the to-go service often involves separating the soup from the noodles and packing condiments like cilantro and chili oil separately. This thoughtful approach preserves the texture of the noodles and allows the diner to customize the final flavor, a small but important detail that enhances the overall dining experience, particularly for those utilizing the takeout or delivery options so crucial to a New York lifestyle.
For first-time visitors or those looking for an authentic, specialized Chinese dish in Brooklyn, ordering one of the duck vermicelli soup options is essential. Pair it with a side of the crisp Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings or the savory Nanxiang Soup Dumplings for a perfectly balanced meal. Whether you choose the complex flavors of the soup or a simple, comforting plate of Ham and Egg Fried Rice, Mr. Duck provides an authentic, high-quality Asian dining experience that New Yorkers value. It is a genuine Brooklyn spot that successfully delivers specialty Chinese comfort food, making it a great choice for lunch, dinner, or a quick, quality bite.
With its focus on quality, versatile service options (dine-in, takeout, and delivery), and its celebrated signature soup, Mr. Duck has firmly established itself as a must-try Chinese restaurant in the Brooklyn culinary landscape.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We got the pork chop rice combo and pork chop noodle soup. It wasn’t anything special. Soup was kinda bland and pork chop inside soup was decent. Rice combo came with fried rice and soup side. Pork chop was kinda of too salty with rice since it was braised. Service was quick with no real issues since it wasn’t a service restaurant. The wrong seat outside of fan range made the seat very hot. Might come again if I’m close by but not gonna be my first choice or go out of my way to eat here.
August 05 · Nick ZhangI got the 老鸭粉丝汤 takeout. The woman on the phone was really kind. They separate the soup from the noodle. A good amount of toppings. Also, they pack the cilantro separately and gave smaller container of hot chili oil and black vinegar.
February 23 · lxyA great place for a meal. Love the noodles
July 28 · AprilIt's disgusting to see this meat with hair in this braised beef noodles. Wonder if this is some kind of meat? Does this look like beef hair? It's so unsanitary.
December 30 · IreneHad braised duck and seafood rice. Food was authentic and delicious. Highly recommend
