When considering where to find your next great meal in Brooklyn, Nous Les Amis offers a dining experience that is a perfect fit for a variety of needs. It has cemented its status as a local destination for those who appreciate true Caribbean comfort food. For any New Yorker in the Flatbush or surrounding areas, here is why a visit to this Haitian restaurant is a choice worth making.
First and foremost, the restaurant specializes in authentic Haitian cuisine. In a city saturated with diverse food, finding a place that focuses on true, un-fused regional dishes is a treasure. The menu's dedication to staples like the Mofongo-Mania section—featuring classics like the Pernil Fongo—shows a deep respect for the culinary heritage. For those unfamiliar with the dish, Mofongo is a satisfying, dense base of plantains that is the very definition of comfort food, and having dedicated variations is a real draw. The inclusion of Pargo Rojo Frito (Fried Red Snapper) also highlights a traditional seafood entree that is beloved across the Caribbean and is a must-try for fish enthusiasts.
Beyond the menu itself, the variety of services is perfectly adapted to the New York lifestyle. Whether you prefer a casual dining experience with friends (as the atmosphere is noted to be casual and popular with groups), a quick meal on the fly, or the convenience of late-night delivery, Nous Les Amis caters to all. Being "popular for" both lunch and dinner and offering a "quick bite" and "late-night food" means it fits seamlessly into the daily schedule of busy urban residents, from mid-day refueling to satisfying those late-evening cravings.
The overall atmosphere and dining options contribute to its appeal as a neighborhood gem. It offers table service in a casual setting, making it accessible and unintimidating, which is a significant plus for regular local visits. While the venue "accepts reservations," the cautionary note of "usually a wait" suggests high demand, which in New York City is often a reliable indicator of good food. It's the kind of place where you can rely on a solid meal and a friendly, local crowd.
While some customer feedback indicates challenges with consistency, such as the note about a salty stew chicken or price discrepancies, the presence of positive reviews—such as "It's delicious my order"—suggests that, like many independent, local establishments, the experience can vary. For the adventurous local diner, giving a local spot a try is part of the New York experience. Choosing Nous Les Amis means supporting a local, cultural institution that adds to the rich flavor profile of the Flatbush community. For the value and the taste of genuine Haitian comfort food, exploring their pork, seafood, and mofongo specialties is highly recommended. The chance to enjoy a hearty plate of Caribbean soul food in the heart of Brooklyn is an experience well worth seeking out.
In conclusion, for those in Brooklyn's 11226 area code and beyond, seeking out a dedicated spot for traditional, filling, and flavorful Haitian cuisine, Nous Les Amis is a strong candidate. Its diverse menu, flexible service options (dine-in, takeout, delivery), and commitment to comfort food make it a solid choice for any New Yorker eager to dive into the savory world of Caribbean cooking.

It’s delicious my order
August 22 · Jhonson SenatThe food was not great. The stew chicken was very salty and the white rice was mushy! They owner asked me to pay a dollar more for my meal however he posted a different prize on his blackboard. Total rip-off. The original owner of Combit kreyol asked me to give this place a chance but I’m disappointed. I will never return. The service and food suck! Haitian people got to do better!
March 12 · Sandra OranvilFood is amazing!!!! I wish they delivered using ubereats and Grubhub
December 28 · Gigi GermainThis place constantly gets shut down by the health dept. And then they lie like all other NYC restaurants saying they are under renovation. Check the health grade online. They changed their name mid 2018 because the previous name had over 100 violations. Current name is now "J and C restaurant" they have a C grade, which is terrible. Eat at your own risk. There are better, cleaner Creole spots throughout East Flatbush.
December 11 · Ms NadineFood was so good I posted it on Facebook and all my home girls where asking for a bite! :)
