★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unexpected result. Attending NY Auto show with friends and we needed a rendezvous spot. Heard the name OToole's and snobbish-ly (?) assumed it would be a run down dump on 11th Ave. I couldnt have been more wrong. Airy, high ceilings, interesting architecture, good music, but most important, lovely staff and surprisingly good food. Shout out to Gabriella for recommendations, kudos to the chef for serving up delicious food. We went in blind on dirty fries. Shockingly good. Annihilated the chips and dip, needing a second set of chips. Chicken Wings (Buffalo sauce) are juicy and sauce is spot on. If you find yourself near Javits Center or Hudson Yards and need a spot, highly recommend. Also appears to be great for families and kids.
April 19 · Jamie KingPizza fresh out of oven delish.Steak on grassini toast tasty. Sauce also appropriate.Extra crispy fish and normal fries chips.Slider with onion rings very good.Proper food as advertised. Not as much fan for potato. Nacho good.Service attentive. Manager checking-up.Nice bar scene. Sports watchable.
July 29 · Sam HahnHad a really fun night. They had a live band for the outdoor dining, super enjoyable. Just one thing, the wagyu beef sliders were dry maybe because we were sitting in the outside.
August 29 · JaydenRemixStuffMy friend and I have eaten at O'Toole's many times and always had a great experience. But the true test of a restaurant is when something isn't perfect. This happened on our most recent visit. Our fried fish batter was overly salty. I am actually glad it occurred because the staff was a text book example of handling the feedback in exactly the right way.Our server, Andrew, immediately apologized and offered to replace both entrees. We declined but really appreciated his offer.Shortly afterwards, the Manager, Kelly, came over to tell us that we were correct: the batter had been over salted. They discarded it and made a fresh batch. Both Kelly and Andrew again apologized, gave us a complimentary order of fish to take home as well a complimentary dessert (delicious! )Their response was so gracious they have won us as loyal customers.BTW, the food is delicious and highly recommended. One additional note: the response by Kelly and Andrew is a good reason why diners should always quietly approach staff and give them a chance to make things right rather than rushing on line to criticize a small mistake.
August 16 · jlandis10We stopped in here while visiting Hudson Yards on Labor Day (Sunday, 9/1) at approximately 3:30 PM, looking for a spot to catch the US Open match between Naomi Osaka & Coco Gauff. At first glance, the place seemed promising—TVs, bar atmosphere, decent menu. We asked the host if we could be seated somewhere with a clear view of a TV showing the match, and he accommodated us.After being seated, we saw a busboy wiping down a nearby table and asked him—very politely—if he could confirm that the TVs we were facing were tuned to the US Open. He didn’t speak much English but seemed to understand and walked off to pass along the request.Moments later, an older white woman who appeared to be the manager leaned her head around the corner and rudely barked across the dining area, “PLEASE DO NOT TURN THE TV!” Her tone was loud, confrontational, and completely out of line—especially considering we never touched any TV or even had the ability to do so. The TVs were mounted high on the wall and there were no remotes anywhere near us.When we tried to respond and clarify what we had actually said to the busboy, the manager immediately ran to the back kitchen area and never returned. She refused to speak with us face to face or attempt to resolve the situation like a professional.Ironically, it turned out that the TVs were tuned to the US Open already—the match was just on a commercial break. So not only was she completely wrong in her assumption, but her aggressive attitude and cowardly retreat made the entire encounter worse. This was a disgusting display of customer service. We hadn’t even ordered yet, and the experience was so off-putting that we simply walked out.If management is reading this and cares at all about the guest experience, we strongly encourage you to look into who was managing the floor around 3:30 PM on 9/1 and have a serious conversation with this woman. Her behavior reflects terribly on your business. We won’t be returning—and we’ll be warning others to stay away.
