June 19 · Lora WileyThis is a fantastic, relatively new Mexican restaurant and bar. I'm happy to have stopped in. The aesthetic is wonderful. Junior was a delightful bartender. He was very attentive, and knowledgeable about the food and drink options. I highly recommend the margarita selection with some street tacos. All flavors seem to have been thoughtfully balanced. Another win for Chef Andrés.
June 24 · D MI was really pleasantly surprised because Mexican food in midtown can be so bland and small servings but we left filled to the brim and the food and drinks were great. Not as spicy as traditional Mexican but we asked for a supplementary hot sauce for the table and that did the trick. The servers were great. I miss the old Spanish Diner that was in the space before but it’s really nice to finally have a Mexican restaurant in the area that’s of a good value and taste.
May 18 · Brian AI visited Oyamel on 7/6/25 and was served by Lucia. From start to finish the experience was amazing. The atmosphere transported us to Mexico City, the music was curated and fun, the complimentary tortilla chips and house made salsa was delicious. Every single dish that we tried was perfectly made. We especially loved the ceviche, tacos, and cocktails. We even ordered dessert just to enjoy the space a bit longer. There was a live DJ present and I really felt as if every detail was considered.Lucia was wonderful. Personable, kind, funny, and attentive. I’d come back again and again and hoped to be served by her. I’d come back for birthdays or for when I want to show my friends a good time.
August 12 · Perrier RHad dinner at Oyamel during NYC restaurant week. The $45 special menu was incredible. Full-size portions of some of the tastiest aguachile, tacos, and tortillas I’ve had in a while. By the time the tacos were brought to our table, I wasn’t even sure if I could keep eating. Everything tasted fresh and the ambiance was lively and joyful on a Wednesday afternoon. Would recommend.
