Choosing a meal at Palomino Halal Food is a delightful experience, with so many popular and delicious options on the menu. However, certain dishes stand out and are particularly worth considering. For a true taste of what makes this spot famous, you can't go wrong with the Chicken Over Rice or the Chicken and Lamb Gyro. These are classic New York street food staples, and Palomino does them justice with generous portions and flavorful sauces. The combination of perfectly cooked meat, fragrant rice, and a drizzle of white sauce is a crowd-pleaser for a reason.
Vegetarian diners will find excellent choices as well, with the Falafel Sandwich and Falafel Over Rice being particularly popular. The falafel is known for its crispy exterior and soft, spiced interior, providing a satisfying and tasty meat-free alternative. For those looking for something a bit different, the Beef Lola Kebab options, whether in a gyro, over rice, or with fries, are another great choice. The menu also includes comfort food favorites like Philly Cheesesteak and Chopped Cheese, showing the restaurant's versatility beyond traditional halal fare.
What truly makes Palomino Halal Food worth choosing, though, is the combination of its authentic, flavorful food, its prime Harlem location, and its commitment to providing a good value. It’s a place where you can get a substantial and delicious meal without a hefty price tag, making it a consistent favorite for daily dining. The straightforward approach to food—fresh, simple, and satisfying—is a testament to why it has earned a loyal following in the New York community. While recent reviews highlight some inconsistent experiences with new staff, the overall consensus is that the food itself remains a high point and the owner and senior staff are well-regarded, making a visit to this establishment a worthwhile culinary journey in Harlem.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is my go to for halal food! The chicken gyros are $5 and the chicken over rice is $8 and they don’t skimp on the chicken! There is a young guy (about 25) with a full beard, whose customer service is impeccable! Check it out it’s located right in front of the Schomburg Center in Harlem.Update: 2/1/2025I enjoy the food at this cart immensely but as of late many of the new workers are making it a struggle to continue to patronize this cart. The only reason I still come is because the owner is a great guy and so are two of his senior workers . Tonight it was one worker working by himself and he literally had the audacity to get upset with me because I asked for more white sauce. I love the food, but these guys are a detriment.8/18/2025Due to staffing changes and customer service I had refrained from buying here. I decided to return and see if it changed. I ordered chicken over rice and I’m given a pound of rice and less chicken than I ever receive before. I specifically asked for eggplant and other vegetables I receive none of that. I cannot complain about the food because it always taste good, but paying higher prices, which is fine, but not getting what I asked for or being given way more rice and less chicken is upsetting. I have nothing but love for the owner, but I’m gonna have to continue going back to Halal flames. These employees need to understand if a person ask for specific things then you give them that or tell them you don’t have it. Things have changed.
August 18 · DI have been buying beef patties here since I can rememberI was going to see my old friends, and I wanted to bring him oneI asked how much it was for one. He said three dollars I had five dollars in my pocket.Mind you they are Muslim and so amI asked politely if I can get two for five because I was going to see an old friend then all I had was five dollarsHe looked at my eyes and saidNoLike it’s a dollar bro I spend so much thereI understand he is trying to run a business, but you also have to take care of your customers sometimes we are a dollarI’m just saying you take care of people and people will take care of you and also that is HaramI believe what goes around comes around and I will never buy from your little truck ever againI am the girl with the red jacket
January 18 · Mut MuratiI don’t get it once I get charged $8For a falafel over fries and an other time $11..?
June 02 · Ambarka BenitezGood 24 hour halal option in Harlem, proximity to the hospital keeps the food turnover good and fresh. Lamb/Chicken and Rice with chopped pita over are my to go options here.
September 12 · Lincoln WettenhallThe Palomino trucks on 135th and 116th are among the best and most consistent in the five boroughs. It's not fancy, you won't get eggplant here, but you will get the most solid chicken or lamb over rice you can hope for. The falafel here is the best I've had anywhere in the city, period. It is better than table service restaurants. Ask for their green sauce.
