Pizza Yard Introduce
Introduction / Overview
When New Yorkers talk about great pizza, the conversation inevitably leads to Brooklyn, and one spot carving out a niche with its commitment to a quality, classic-style pie is Pizza Yard. Located at 141 Flushing Avenue, Pizza Yard is more than just a typical pizza joint; it’s an Italian-inspired espresso bar and wood-fired pizza restaurant that offers a casual yet trendy dining experience. Situated in the dynamic Brooklyn Navy Yard area, it serves as a reliable culinary hub for local workers, residents, and visitors alike.
The focus here is on quality ingredients and time-honored techniques, particularly their signature light, hand-stretched crust. The owner, a seasoned restaurateur with a passion for Neapolitan-style pizza, brings deep expertise, utilizing a 48-hour fermentation process to produce a highly digestible dough that results in a light, bubbly, and crispy crust. This dedication to the dough is what sets their pizzas apart, offering a traditional yet perfected New York-style experience that avoids the "soggy or floppy" texture of some other classic pies.
While offering beloved standard pies like the Margherita and Marinara, Pizza Yard distinguishes itself with a versatile menu that caters to both lunch and solo dining crowds, complemented by offerings like coffee and comfort food. It provides a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that is casual, family-friendly, and designated as an LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safespace, making it a comfortable destination for everyone in the diverse New York community.

What is worth choosing
For anyone in New York seeking a superior pizza experience that balances traditional technique with modern sensibilities, Pizza Yard is undeniably worth choosing. The primary reason is the **quality of the pizza itself**, which is rooted in its genuine Neapolitan-style approach. The 48-hour fermented, hand-stretched dough and the wood-fired oven work in tandem to create a light, bubbly, and crispy crust—a significant step up from standard New York slices.
While some patrons note changes in service style, such as moving toward whole pies or a "build your own" approach, the core value proposition remains the same: a high-quality, craft pizza experience. The specialty pies, such as the creamy **Bianca** (no sauce, three cheeses) or the savory **Sausage & Rapini**, showcase the kitchen's capability to deliver elevated comfort food. It’s the perfect place to grab a whole pie for your team during lunch or settle in for a satisfying solo dinner.
Beyond the food, the exceptional level of **accessibility and community inclusion** is a major reason to choose Pizza Yard. Its full compliance with wheelchair accessibility requirements, coupled with a publicly stated commitment to being an LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safespace, highlights its role as a welcoming and modern Brooklyn establishment. Pair your traditional pizza with a freshly prepared espresso from their bar, and you have a complete, comfortable, and quality New York dining moment.
The combination of a world-class crust, a welcoming atmosphere, and deep roots in Italian pizza tradition makes Pizza Yard an essential destination in the Brooklyn Navy Yard area, promising a meal that is both authentic and satisfying.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The cashier was extremely friendly and the pizza came out in a timely manner. The pizza itself was subpar. The sauce and flavors were underdeveloped. I was eating with colleagues so I wanted to be more “professional” instead of stuffing pizza in my face. Unfortunately, they did not have silverware.
November 21 · Amber Gray-KurzEh. They no longer serve by the slice and they stripped the menu down to build your own. Makes it pretty pricy for a single person to just have some pizza. They even charge you to drizzle hot honey on your pizza and don’t put out a cheese shaker for you to add a little Parmesan on top. Looking at $20 for pizza when a regular NYC slice actually gives you more food volume and costs way less.
July 08 · Melissa MillerThe Margarita had a soft, chewy crust which was unusual for a wood fired pizza. The mozzarella was fresh and so was the tomatoes used in the sauce. The basil was a nice finishing touch. If one finds themselves at the Brooklyn Navy Yard give this place a try.
September 08 · Leonardo TorresTheir pizza is great and price is very reasonable considering the location. Italian style brick over, perfectly cooked. I recommend.
May 19 · Massimo VendolaI got my pizza cold on the middle of July 90f today and the dough was row mozzarella wasn’t even melted the tomato sauce row…why!?! I call them and the guy told this is how we do it, so I just let it go….costumer service very bad…good luck guy pizza dough recipe
