The culinary focus at Rory's blends classic Americana with elevated specialties, a philosophy overseen by Chef Bryan Malcarney. While the roots of the restaurant lie in providing familiar, home-cooked food—the kind that truly sticks to your ribs—the menu frequently features more sophisticated specials, such as six-hour braised lamb shank, high-quality halibut, and tender filet mignon, demonstrating a commitment to culinary range. This blend ensures that whether you're looking for a quick, delicious burger or a gourmet seafood plate, Rory's has a memorable option.
Known for maintaining a classic, unpretentious "local pub on the corner" vibe, Rory's fosters a sense of camaraderie and connection among its patrons, many of whom have become regulars. The atmosphere is described as casual and cozy, a comfortable haven where locals gather. It is a place that feels immediately welcoming, a 'Cheers'-like environment where conversation and laughter are as much a part of the experience as the award-winning food. This friendly, family-friendly, and LGBTQ+ friendly environment makes it a great choice for various occasions, from a solo lunch to a lively group dinner.
The menu itself is robust, offering options for every time of day and every craving. Starters range from the rich and savory Fried Zucchini and Breaded Popcorn Shrimp to more refined options like Irish Smoked Salmon and Beef Tenderloin Sliders. Soups are a major draw, featuring the famous, multiple-time Chowder Fest Award Winner, New England Clam Chowder. For those seeking lighter fare, the “Garden Goodies” section offers generous salads, including the Traditional Chef Salad, Cobb Salad, and a beloved Taco Salad. This comprehensive approach to dining ensures that Rory's remains a highly popular choice for lunch, dinner, and even Sunday brunch in the Connecticut community.

Fantastic home cooked food but some of the dishes are kinda fancy too - 6hr braised lamb shank is off the charts their mashed potatos are first rate, fantastic side dish sauteed spinach. I've had halibut there 3 times off the specials and itś as good as any restaurant anywhere at half the price - they really know how to do the fish, salmon is also a fave but the best is the fish and chips amazing batter. Calamari and fried zuchinni great starters. Try the burger very generous portion very high quality. Great service and some of the friendliest staff ever. I feel so at home at Roryś.Another meal here, Halibut and Filet Mignon
September 22 · H. SINCLAIRHad lunch with my wife on a Sunday afternoon. Sat at the bar nice beer and wine selection. Food was very very good. Definitely a neighborhood joint as everyone knew each other there which I love. Good vibe and lots of nice people. I will be back!!
August 20 · Paul ClarkeJust by chance, I put a "lunch near me" in my car GPS. Popped up were a couple of options, but we selected Rory's. Amazing little joint,. They have a bar/seating option as well as a dining room just off to the left upon entering. Lunch time was very busy, but the service, food and atmosphere was very quaint and nice. Nice find in Darien.
September 07 · James FitzgeraldThis place is a gem! We have lived around the area since Covid and have never stopped by.The bar is super cozy, friendly and very neighborly. The food is outstanding - the menu is well above what you would expect from a smaller restaurant and tastes deliciously.During summer the size is at least double but during bad weather do not miss the inside. The staff is super down to earth, friendly and makes everything super fun.
May 25 · Christine Adamsson MooreSmall place. They must have had everyone walk in at the same time as we were last to get our food 45 mins later. Everyone had eaten but us. Ordered the French dip because of reviews, it lacked flavor so I added a ton of pepper, could have used some garlic or horseradish sauce. Should have ordered the chicken risotto. Everyone around us' food looked great.
July 08 · Julie HI stop by often on a Tues or Fri for a cup or bowl of lobster bisque at the bar, along with a glass of wine. Susie is a delight to be waited on. Although she is very busy during lunch time, she always greets you with pleasantries. Lobster bisque is delicious and consistent and I look forward to Tues and Fri when it's available. The bar crowd are friendly and welcoming
October 21 · Jane Smith GrahamAll the dishes had their own characteristics, and we throughly enjoyed trying everything. Came here for lunch one day after seeing someone's vlog highlight their rice table. The wait staff was attentive and kind. We were pleasantly surprise by EVERYTHING that we had.
