Inspired by the traditions of Piedmont, Rucola’s menu is ever-evolving, ensuring that patrons always experience the freshest flavors of the season. Whether you're starting your day with a comforting breakfast, enjoying a leisurely brunch, or settling in for a romantic dinner, Rucola provides an atmosphere that is both casual and trendy, making it a perfect spot for solo diners, couples, and groups alike. It's a true taste of Northern Italian simplicity and elegance, nestled right on a historic corner in one of Brooklyn's most charming neighborhoods.
Rucola's dedication to quality is evident across its entire menu, which spans four distinct services throughout the day—Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. The heart of the kitchen lies in its house-made pasta program, a highlight that keeps locals returning time and again. Menu items are crafted with care and a commitment to flavor integrity. For instance, you might find a delicate house-made pasta like Bruco (available on both Lunch and Dinner menus for $23.00) or Rigatoni ($24.00), demonstrating the kitchen’s ability to elevate classic shapes with fresh, seasonal components. Another staple is the Whole Roasted Brook Trout, a consistent entree offering across lunch, brunch, and dinner, reflecting the restaurant's rustic and wholesome cooking style.
The dining experience is designed to be well-rounded, from the carefully curated wine list to the excellent coffee and tea selections. Customers often praise Rucola not only for its incredible food but also for its "Fast service," a welcome highlight in the busy New York restaurant landscape. The atmosphere—described as Casual, Cozy, Romantic, and Trendy—is ideal for a variety of occasions, whether you're grabbing a quick, healthy option or settling in for a lengthy, celebratory meal.
The commitment to a high-quality experience also extends to its bar program, with a selection of Beer, Cocktails, Hard liquor, and Wine, making it a reliable spot for those looking for a great drink to complement their Northern Italian fare.
Beyond the main menu, Rucola ensures that dietary preferences are accommodated with an array of Vegetarian options and generally Healthy options available. The concept of "Small plates" also encourages sampling and sharing among groups, enhancing the communal dining experience.
A significant draw for Rucola is its commitment to the farm-to-table ethos. This isn't just a marketing phrase; it’s the restaurant's operational backbone. By continually selecting the "highest quality ingredients available in and around New York" and ensuring the menu changes seasonally, Rucola provides a dining experience that is vibrant, fresh, and deeply connected to its regional culinary roots in Piedmont. This focus on fresh ingredients and simple, elegant preparation is what sets Rucola apart in the competitive NYC dining scene.

What is Worth Choosing
For the discerning New York diner, Rucola offers a highly memorable and worthwhile experience. The most compelling reasons to choose Rucola center on its unwavering dedication to quality ingredients and its unique culinary focus.
The core value proposition lies in the house-made pastas. Dishes like Bruco or the rotating specialty pastas (like the customer-praised lumache pasta or Shells with ramp pesto, fava beans, pine nuts, pecorina) are truly the star of the show. These dishes offer textures and flavors that are simply unattainable in restaurants using commercial pasta, positioning Rucola as a must-try for any serious pasta lover in New York.
Beyond the pasta, the seasonal and rustic entrées—such as the Whole Roasted Brook Trout, Chicken, Porchetta, and Short Rib—offer hearty, sophisticated comfort food. The farm-to-table ethos is clearly articulated in the freshness and vibrant taste of the salads, like the simple yet satisfying Arugula and Escarole, and appetizer offerings like the Chef's Selection Antipasti, which is noted by customers for being "creative and balanced."
The atmosphere is another major draw. Rucola is one of those rare Brooklyn spots that successfully blends a cozy neighborhood feel with a trendy, romantic edge. It’s a versatile choice—whether you are looking for a quality business lunch, a solo dining experience at the bar, or a special date night. The friendly and professional service, often described as "excellent" and "fast," only enhances the overall superior dining experience.
In a city saturated with Italian restaurants, Rucola stands out by offering a highly focused, high-quality Northern Italian experience rooted in sustainability and fresh, seasonal ingredients. It is a vital and essential part of the Boerum Hill culinary landscape and a spot that every New Yorker should add to their list of top Italian destinations. Given the popularity, making reservations for brunch or dinner is highly recommended to secure your spot at this exceptional Brooklyn eatery.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Walked in on a Friday & joined the wait list. Definitely waited much longer than we were quoted. However, the food made up for it. Everything we had was delicious and fresh. Chef choice of meat, cheese & veg was creative and balanced. I also especially enjoyed the lumache pasta!
August 29 · Claire HessI'd been meaning to try Rucola for quite a while now, and was finally able to check it out. We didn't have a reservation, but fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long as walk-ins.It's a great atmosphere for a date or even just to catch up with a friend, as I was, and the service was excellent. In terms of the main highlight, food, I'd absolutely get everything we ordered again:- Campanelle - ‘Nduja butter, smoked hake, breadcrumbs,Parmigiano- Shells - ramp pesto, fava beans, pine nuts, pecorina (this was absolutely incredible)- Crostino - Tomino, prosciutto, honey, walnuts
June 09 · LorenSuch a lovely spot with amazing food and great service! We were a group of 4 and were sat without a wait at a table outside around 12:30 on a Sunday. We had a few bottles of wine, the country breakfast, French toast, and the pork sandwich, all of which were absolutely delicious, we completely cleared our plates. Food came out a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry. The outside tables give you a view of the beautiful street the restaurant is on. Highly recommend coming here
April 29 · Maya BThis was our second time coming to Rulcola for a birthday celebration. We are never disappointed in the food, the service, or the cozy ambiance. The drinks were very tasty and the food was even better! Definitely have to save room for dessert next time!
December 18 · Kelly SteinThe interior and general look of the place is interesting and inviting. My wife had the tuna sandwich which was from a can and dry. For the price it was poor. There is the outside structure and for now is fine, I understand new regulations may change that.
