What is worth choosing
If you are exploring the authentic flavors of Georgia in New York, Sunny House in Sheepshead Bay is a must-visit destination for multiple reasons, making it a compelling choice over other dining options. The most worthwhile aspect is the sheer quality and authenticity of the cuisine, which is consistently delivered across a massive menu of Georgian classics. You can count on a meal here feeling genuinely homemade and bursting with the nuanced spice blends that define the region.
The greatest highlight and a truly worth-choosing feature is the quality of the signature dishes. Start with the famed Khachapuri; opting for the Megrelian Khachapuri for its double layer of cheese or the Adjaruli Khachapuri for the classic egg-and-butter boat experience is a requirement. Then, you absolutely must move to the savory stars. The Veal Stew (Chashashuli) is repeatedly mentioned as an exceptional, melt-in-your-mouth experience with a uniquely flavored sauce, solidifying it as a top contender for the restaurant’s best dish. Furthermore, the Khinkali (both the beef and lamb versions) are celebrated for their flavorful filling and abundant, signature "juice," making them some of the finest examples of the dumpling in New York City.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Sunny House enhances the entire experience. New Yorkers often appreciate the 'proper restaurant' feel of the establishment—cozy, warm, and nicely decorated—offering a more refined yet casual ambiance than many Georgian cafés. This makes it an ideal spot not only for a comforting solo meal but also for a significant family celebration where a welcoming setting is key. While the weekend live music may be loud for quiet conversation, the friendly and attentive service, combined with the two-room layout, allows the restaurant to accommodate different dining needs and events effectively.
For an introduction to the rich, walnut-based appetizers, choosing the Eggplant Rolls with Walnuts or the Satsivi is highly recommended to fully appreciate the complex textures and flavors of Georgian cold dishes. Finally, the grill masters at Sunny House deserve recognition; the Lamb Chops are lauded for their flavor and perfect preparation. In essence, Sunny House offers a top-tier combination of authentic, expertly prepared Georgian comfort food and a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere, making it one of Brooklyn's most valuable culinary exports.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the best Georgian restaurants in Brooklyn! We visited Sunny House for my uncle’s birthday celebration in April 2025, and again for my own birthday in September. The first visit was a banquet letting us sample most of the menu. On the second visit, I completed the list. On both occasions the food was consistently fresh, full of flavor, and overall delicious. It’s impressive how they maintain such a high quality across every dish - including dessert and even tea. A few dishes absolutely stood out: Khinkali (both beef and lamb), Megrelian Khachapuri, Adjaruli Khachapuri, Veal Stew (Chashashuli), and Baby Lamb Chops. The interior is warm and nicely decorated, creating a cozy ambiance. The table setup feels like a proper restaurant, rather than a casual café vibe usual for Georgian spots. The two dining rooms layout allows for some privacy if you host a party. There is nice live music on weekend evenings, but it's very loud. Even in the inner room with doors closed, the music makes it hard to hear each other. If quieter setting to talk and socialize is important - arrive before the music starts.Service is polite, friendly, and attentive, though it can lag during busy evenings. On non-banquet visit, the entrées arrived immediately after hot appetizers and khachapuri, leaving no time to enjoy the starters while they were still hot. Not sure why it's done that way, probably cultural norm. To have sufficient time to focus on appetizers explicitly ask the staff not to rush the entrees.I highly recommend Sunny House for its high-quality Georgian cuisine and beautiful, welcoming ambiance!Dishes triedSalads & Cold StartersGeorgian salad with Burrata - goodGeorgian salad with Walnuts - goodGebzhalia - delicious! September 12 · beldim2010Really cozy Georgian spot. Tried a bunch of dishes, but the grilled calamari with sweet chili sauce totally surprised me - super tender, a bit of heat, great balance. Everything felt homemade and full of flavor. Friendly staff, warm vibe, fireplace in the background - you just want to stay longer. Definitely worth coming back.
May 28 · Rodion GrinkoService felt indifferent: no water offered, no warning about the 35-minute wait or that the soup was extremely hot. This matters a lot during lunch. The presentation was extremely simple, and the taste was nothing special. At $18 for soup, one expects a higher level of service and a more refined dining experience. Overall, it was okay if you’re hungry, but not worth the cost.
August 25 · K KarmaHad a lunch here with my daughter, and we loved it. My daughter had the Adjaruli khachapuri. She's a very picky eater, but this was a hit - super cheesy and fresh. I had lobio, the georgian salad with walnuts, and satsivi. Everything tasted great, just like real homemade food. The place is cozy and the staff was friendly and polite. Thank you so much! I know you guys just opened, so I wish you the best of luck
June 02 · Julia RokhinaThe food was quite good. Staff were very friendly and pleasant to talk with. It’s a relatively new restaurant in the area. The overall atmosphere is nice - would return
