★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had an incredible experience at Tai Er! The food is absolutely amazing and tastes exactly the same as what I had back in China — authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable. Every dish was spot on, bringing me right back to those familiar flavors I’ve missed. The staff were also wonderful — welcoming, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for true authentic Chinese cuisine!
August 15 · AleksandrHeard a lot of good things about this place so naturally have to try it out. Been to The Tangram numerous times so booking garage parking beforehand is very much encouraged since it was a Sunday. Free street parking is pretty much non existent if it is a Sunday and after 12 pm. Anyways we ordered the Signature Sauerkraut Fish Spicy for 2 ,Crispy Fried Pork and the Sichuan Lettuce Wrap with Pork. As for dessert I got myself the Brown Sugar Syrup Ive Jelly which I personally love!!!! The Wrap was surprisingly good with the pork being juicy and tender. The main dish being the fish dish was a tad too spicy for me. I guess I wasn't made for spicy foods. It was too spicy to really enjoy the broth. I ordered a white rice just to accommodate the broth. Otherwise it was OK. Personally I think it was a little overpriced but then again the restaurant is located within the Tangram Mall. Just so you know there are plenty of restaurants outside the mall that are walking distance.
July 07 · Keng Hong PatThis place is alright. We ordered a Wonton, a bowl of fish for two and a dessert. The fish was a bit underwhelming and not as flavorful as it looks and also quite salty (couldn't stop drinking water after the meal). The portion was just enough.I do feel for the type of offering and the portion, this place is overpriced. The tiny small bowl of mango dessert was $6. You can get a similar drink from Hey Tea down the block for $1 more and waaaaay more materials. Nothing stood out but it is priced on the higher end at flushing. We also spotted a bug crawling across our table.
September 15 · A MiruruTai er is very much excellent. Sauerkraut fish is something new to me, however it turned out to be amazing. Everything from the signature dish turned out to be amazing. A amazing blend of soup, fish and sauerkraut. The soup was rich fatty and delicious but had nice level of peppers to keep things spicy and interesting. The fish was tender, meaty and umai. The sauerkraut as well, was amazing. I really sort of discovered it truly in the end of the dish but the fermented cabbage had unique and delicious taste, a real strong sense of fermentation.Essentially its a sour and spicy dish. It does not have the vinegar of your typical hot and sour however it doesn't not need. It works because the spice really cuts into the fat and sour, elevating the whole experience.I also got the lemonade which was a treat. It was a nice pairing to the spicy dish and fatty dish of the signature.Entering was a breeze. Ordering was a breeze via the QR code. The service was great and did speak English (which is a plus for me). The environment was nice as well, clean as whistle and fun to look but also relatively relaxing.Leaving was also great. The restaurant gives really nice take home bags and containers. You can easily over order here but honestly its worth it.I could easily taking someone who loves Chinese but has never had the sauerkraut fish before and would be blown away.
August 09 · Luke JohnsonTai Er’s Suancai Fish is a flavor explosion! The tender white fish soaked in that tangy, spicy pickled cabbage broth is absolutely addictive. The balance between sour, spicy, and savory is just perfect — every bite wakes up your taste buds. Plus, the portion size is generous and great for sharing. Definitely a must-try if you love bold Sichuan flavors!
