For New Yorkers ready to dive into the rich world of Caribbean flavor at Two Queens Cuisine, focusing on their signature and most praised dishes is the best way to start. The consensus among regular patrons points directly to the slow-cooked, hearty staples.
The Oxtail is the absolute must-try. This slow-cooked, tender dish is the cornerstone of great Jamaican food and is consistently highlighted as the best item on the menu. Follow that with the Jerk Chicken for a smoky, fiery kick—it's the authentic taste of the islands you're looking for. For something savory and rich, the Brown Stewed Pork or the tender Curried Goat are excellent, traditional choices that showcase the depth of flavor in their stews.
To complete your meal, don't miss out on the sides. While Rice and Peas is a classic, the Pumpkin Rice is a uniquely delicious, highly recommended alternative that customers rave about, though you may need to get there early as it "sells out way too fast." Finally, grab a fresh, refreshing in-house beverage like the Soursop Juice or Carrot Juice to wash down the spicy and savory notes of your meal. Two Queens Cuisine Reviews
Unfortunately, I’ve had a few disappointing experiences at this restaurant. While the food has been generally good, the pepper shrimp consistently disappoints me. I’m not sure if it’s made too far in advance and left to sit, or if it doesn’t sell that day and is simply left in the fridge. This is the second time I’ve ordered pepper shrimp and it’s had mold on it. It’s frustrating to have to deal with this when I’m trying to support a business. Although this establishment is locally situated, it is imperative to enhance our preparation methods and ensure that our patrons are adequately compensated for their hard-earned money. Given the abundance of restaurants in the area, attracting customers requires offering exceptional food and service. Imagine eating the shrimp on top and then you get to the middle and you see the one with mold on it. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. This is just not OK and something has to be done. I could understand if it was the first time but it’s the second.
August 12 · Lauren Ashley HTwo Queens Cuisine has my heart ❤️! The establishment is exceptionally clean, great customer service and always a diversity of fresh cooked goods😋:you are pleasantly greeted upon entering, I come frequently too and am spoken to with a smile even when it's crazy busy which I appreciate after a long day.I have NEVER had anything bad here....their fresh made drinks are crisp, refreshing and tasty. This place stays busy and the chefs are constantly at work turning out fresh trays as they sell out quickly of their items.I started coming here when they 1st opened and haven't stopped since, I had to pace myself a bit because I was coming here a few times a week not just for me but family members and they loved the food too😄😁.I have had many different dishes from oxtail, fish/shrimp, rasta pasta, porridge etc. and everything was well seasoned+great portion sizes:I always have enough left over for another day or to share.I get a bit overwhelmed at times because everything always smells+looks good...I patiently wait if need be as I know what I'm getting is top notch👍🏼.You must also try their Pumpkin Rice🎃 a delicious alternative to white rice/rice&peas but this sells out way too fast for my taste lol.I'm a forever customer and strongly encourage others to tantalize their pallets with their cuisine🍽...I wish them continued success+prosperity🙌🏾 !
January 26 · Helle DavilaThe food is baddddd!I'm disappointed to say that my experiences with this restaurant have been consistently subpar. As a loyal customer since their opening, I've given them numerous chances to improve because theyre always empty and me and my husband go out of her way just to support them as a new, Jamaican, black owned female business, but unfortunately, the food quality has not met my expectations. The red peas soup, a staple in Jamaican cuisine, has been a letdown. Most times it's yellow with no peas, and other times it's just unappetizing Taste just like a bad chicken soup an Abomination! and the owner dare tell me nobody has complained well thank God i'm gemini. The pork is gamey, the cow's foot lacks flavor, and the parboiled rice used in the rice and peas dish is a major misstep.I've tried various menu items, including the peppered steak, oxtail, and fried chicken, but none have impressed me. I swear to God they cannot cook! The only redeeming quality is the excellent customer service, particularly from the young girl who serves with patience and humility.Unfortunately, the owner's lack of accountability and attention to detail is concerning. As a Jamaican, I take pride in my culture's cuisine, and it's disheartening to see it misrepresented. To potential customers, I advise caution. While the restaurant may have its fans on here, I believe my experiences are a more accurate reflection of the establishment's shortcomings. Perhaps with a new chef or revised recipes, they can improve and better represent the flavors and traditions of Jamaican cuisine. To those looking to open a Jamaican restaurant don't play with our cuisine you are an ambassador of our culture you better come correct! If you can't cook or can't find a chef that can cook don't open a Jamaican restaurant! I mean that from my soul.
