Zhang Liang Spicy Hot Pot Introduce
For New Yorkers in Queens and beyond who crave a truly customizable and authentic taste of modern Chinese street food, look no further than Zhang Liang Spicy Hot Pot in Flushing. This establishment is a local extension of a massive, globally recognized brand that originated in Harbin, China, and has become famous for revolutionizing the Malatang and Mala Xiang Guo experience. It’s not your traditional communal hot pot; instead, it offers a fun, fast-casual concept where you are the chef, curating your perfect meal from an array of fresh, quality ingredients.
This Flushing spot provides a fresh take on two beloved Sichuan-style dishes: Malatang (a personal hot pot soup) and Mala Xiang Guo (Spicy Dry Hot Pot, a flavorful stir-fry). The unique 'DIY selection mode' is what sets Zhang Liang apart, allowing diners to choose their exact ingredients, from meats and fresh vegetables to various types of noodles and specialty fish balls. This process ensures that whether you're a vegetarian, a spice fiend, or simply someone with very specific preferences, you’ll walk away with a dish perfectly tailored to your palate.

It is especially popular for both lunch and dinner and has earned a reputation for providing delicious, comforting food with a distinct, complex flavor profile that many patrons describe as authentic, spicy, and numbing—the classic 'mala' taste. Beyond the savory dishes, Zhang Liang Spicy Hot Pot also boasts a surprisingly robust and inventive beverage menu, featuring everything from rich milk teas and fruit marble drinks to classic Chinese herbal tea, cementing its status as a complete, destination-worthy dining experience in the heart of Flushing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was craving mala xiang guo and this hit the spot. Located right of main street, this fast casual restaurant is your classic malatang spot. You fill up your bowl with the ingredients you want, weigh it, and once they cook it and it's ready, you just pick it up from the counter! They have a variety of veggies, fish tofus, and meats for you to add to your malatang. I would say that their selection is a bit smaller than I'm used to, and a lot of their meats were already marinated (which I don't like). But, their veggie selection was good and fresh. I got their spicy mala xiang guo, and it came with a side of rice. It was good, but I felt like it wasn't spicy enough so I went to go make my own sauce. I wish there was just a bit more seasoning sauce in their mala xiang guo. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it.

June 04 · Sandy XuI came here with my boyfriend multiple times already, we tried dry noodles style and hot pot soup style but we like the soup style the most! Soo yummmm. Price is acceptable, place is clean and no line. We definitely keep coming back!
August 16 · WilasineeI dined here with my friends, and the portions are huge! I could barely finish my meal. My tip: don't over-fill your bin when you're choosing your ingredients.
