What is Worth Choosing
When stepping into a new regional Chinese restaurant like Zheng Jin Ji, it's always best to start with the specialties they are most proud of, especially those that define Fuzhou cuisine. If you are a New Yorker ready to explore the depth of this culinary tradition, there are a few must-try items that the restaurant excels at.
First and foremost, the Handmade Fish Balls are a quintessential Fuzhou dish and the absolute highlight of this establishment. These are not your average fish balls; Fuzhou-style fish balls are famous for a tender, springy exterior made from pounded fish paste, which typically conceals a savory, flavorful filling of minced pork or other meats. You can enjoy them in a clear, light broth—a hallmark of Fuzhou soup preparation—or purchase the fresh version in a bag to prepare at home.
Another signature must-try is the selection of handmade dumplings and wontons. The Handmade Foochow Dumpling Soup or the Foochow Wonton Soup offers a delicate, tender wrapper filled with savory pork. Wontons in Fuzhou cuisine are known for their delicate, almost paper-thin wrappers, providing a delightful contrast to the flavorful filling.
For a savory snack or appetizer, the sesame buns are a revelation. The Pickled Pork Sesame Bun W. Preserved Vegetables and the Guhuai Sesame Bamboo Shoot Bun are prepared in advance and then deep-fried to order, resulting in a crispy, sesame-studded exterior and a richly flavored, textural interior. These represent the "quick bite" and street-food side of the cuisine perfectly.
Finally, don't overlook the simple yet satisfying noodle dishes. The Noodle With Spicy Braised Pork is a popular choice for a flavorful and hearty meal. For those who enjoy an offal specialty, the Ox Tripe Noodle Soup offers a truly authentic, complex flavor profile that is highly praised by those familiar with traditional Fuzhou street food. This diverse range of dishes, from light and delicate soups to satisfying snacks and noodles, makes Zheng Jin Ji a true gem for New York food enthusiasts.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Their food is okay, service is fast and friendly.Didn’t like that that replaced the traditional green bak choy for stir friend noodles with cabbage, the texture of the cabbage ruins it.Flavor is okay. Overall food we tried are also okay that’s why we do return.Something interesting is, their owner/staff was doing live stream on tik tok the whole time we were there. They are trying very hard to survive this tough market these days.
May 12 · Wien LooDown to earth spot. If you gone to authentic Chinese food and this is the spot like a street food. Fish ball soup and peanut noodle.
August 10 · Kevin ZengI was exploring this Chinatown during my vacation. I was amazed this community had cuisines from many different provinces and dialects of Asia that I was not familiar with. This place offers two Fuzhou dishes that I never heard of or tried before. One is filled with meat and the other is cooked with lotus roots. Surprisingly, they weren't oily. Both are stuffed with ingredients.
August 24 · Pamela LStumbled across this eatery for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. We got the fish ball soup, pickled pork sesame bun and the flat rice noodle with spicy pork.Fish balls were large and very clean tasting. The soup was pepper forward but I liked that. Might be one of my favorite fj fish balls ever. The flat rice noodle with spicy pork was very good. The mala spice came through but wasn’t overally spicy. The bun was good too but meat was just slightly dry. Nothing some vinegar couldn’t fix though.Great meal. Would return.
September 03 · Susan N.I give 5 stars because the food is piping hot, fresh and good. The fishballs are bouncy stuffed with delicious beef meatball inside. It’s a mom and pop place, owners are nice friendly hard working people from China. I will go back next time I visit NYC.
