A Pasta Bar Introduce
Welcome to A Pasta Bar, a women-owned Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of New York City's vibrant SoHo neighborhood. This isn't your typical traditional Italian eatery; A Pasta Bar offers a modern, trendy, and upscale dining experience with a unique twist. The restaurant's design is an elegant "culinary Italian theater," with an open kitchen concept that allows guests to watch talented chefs meticulously craft dishes right before their eyes. This intimate setting transforms a simple meal into a captivating and engaging show, making it a perfect spot for a special date night or a sophisticated evening out with a group.
The atmosphere at A Pasta Bar is a blend of casual coziness and upscale chic. With live music sometimes gracing the space, the ambiance is lively yet comfortable. The decor is modern and elegant, featuring plush banquettes and a large wrap-around counter that serves as the border between the front and back of the house. This design allows for a unique dining perspective and an immersive experience. While the establishment can feel fast-paced to some, it is designed for a memorable experience, offering a mix of intimacy and energy that is uniquely New York.
The menu is a celebration of authentic Italian flavors with a modern sensibility. The star, of course, is the pasta, with a variety of carefully crafted dishes. Highlights include the creamy and peppery Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe, the rich and earthy Tagliatella Al Tartufo Nero, and the flavorful Spaghetti Alle Vongole with Manila clams. For those who want to experience a range of what the kitchen has to offer, the popular "Pasta Tasting" menu is a must-try, providing a sampling of five different pasta dishes. Beyond the pasta, the menu features a selection of appetizers like the Wagyu Tartar and Burrata. To finish your meal, you can choose from desserts like the Homemade Tiramisu or A’s Signature Ice Cream. The drink menu is equally impressive, with a great wine list featuring Italian reds, whites, and proseccos, along with an innovative cocktail list.

A Pasta Bar is worth choosing for those who are looking for more than just a meal; they are seeking a complete dining experience. The main reason to visit is the quality of the handmade pasta, which is at the heart of the restaurant's concept. While a few reviews have mentioned service can feel rushed and prices can be high, the overall consensus from many patrons is that the food quality, especially the pasta, is "simply spectacular" and "worth the hype." ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We did the tasting menu and 2 drinks. The food was quite good! 3 out of the 5 tasting menu dishes were great, but not the other 2.However, the service is definitely not good. They have attitude and gave us 3 different courses at any given time. Felt quite rushed, table was too cluttered and our food kept getting cold as a result. They did this so that they can match us with other tables’ courses. The price associated with the food + service is not worth it in my opinion. Better spots in the city where you get great food and service too!
July 27 · Swarnima TapariaAbsolutely fantastic spot! The pasta tasting is simply spectacular, every dish a delight. The staff is incredibly attentive and welcoming. A definite must-visit in NYC!
June 16 · Juan Castellanos ÁlvarezThe food is good, but the prices are hard to justify. In NYC, it’s not hard to find at least a dozen pasta spots that serve food just as good at about 30% less. The melon in the melon & prosciutto appetizer was unfortunately unripe, too hard to cut and chew, which felt disappointing at $27.On the other hand, the tagliatelle bolognese was amazing— easily in my top three in the city. Rich, classic, and full of flavor. The pistachio gelato was just okay. Too sweet, with the sugar overpowering the pistachio flavor (and I say this as someone with a sweet tooth). One small side note from a health standpoint: for a restaurant charging $30-$50 a plate, I expected a little more attention to detail in the cookware. The spatulas and utensils looked like basic plastic, which feels out of place in a restaurant at this price point. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does make you wonder about the overall health and quality standards when the bill runs so high.

May 27 · Amos NachumSuch a shame, the food was amazing until I was finishing my pasta and chewed on an actual screw. It was my best friend's birthday so we didn’t make a scene, the server was kind and tried to recover the issue but the manager only comped the pasta and sent dessert. Again we wanted to celebrate, I’ve been in the industry for years so I get mistakes happen, but this is extremely dangerous and could have really harmed my teeth or swallowed it. I privately expressed my concern and they just said sorry but in my experience in hospitality, this doesn’t recover this type of incident. I will post the only pic I have (I didn’t see it at the time pic was taken) the server took it right away concerned when it happened.
