### What is Worth Choosing
For any New Jersey resident visiting BAPDODUK, the decision of what to choose should be guided by the restaurant’s core specialty and the experience it offers. What is most worth choosing are the dishes that have earned the establishment its famous name and high praise.
The absolute, non-negotiable choice is the **Gejang ($20.00)**, the Soy-Marinated Crab. This is the authentic "rice thief" that patrons rave about, described as fresh, savory, and perfectly seasoned. Ordering this dish is the true BAPDODUK experience; ensure you order extra rice to fully enjoy the rich crab roe and buttery meat.
For a non-seafood specialty that receives equal praise, try the **Grilled Mackerel (Bugeo Gui)**. Customers consistently commend its pure, clean flavor and lack of any undesirable "fishy smell." This dish, paired with a classic stew, makes for a complete and highly traditional Korean meal.
If you prefer a stew, opt for a unique or highly authentic choice that showcases their depth of flavor. The **Ppyeodagwi Gamja-Tang** (Spicy Pork-Bone Stew) or the comforting, flavorful **Yukgaejang** (Spicy Beef Soup) are excellent choices for a hearty, traditional soup that warms you from the inside out. For a simpler yet essential taste, the **Doenjang-Jjigae** (Korean Soy Bean Paste Stew) is a benchmark of quality Korean cooking.
Finally, consider the **Jju-Sam Gopdol** (Baby Octopus and Pork Belly Hot Stone Bowl) for a sizzling, spicy, and satisfying entree that combines fresh, chewy seafood with savory pork in a memorable presentation, perfect for a dynamic lunch or dinner.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Day I Finally Met the “Rice Thief”I kept saying “let’s go, let’s go,” and I finally went! The young owner is super kind, always checking each table to see if we need anything. The mackerel was absolutely amazing!!!!! A must-try. No fishy smell at all—just pure clean flavor. The spicy fish roe soup was so refreshing. The jjukkumi (baby octopus) was super chewy and fresh. And the soy sauce marinated crab (ganjang gejang)!!!!!!! That’s the real winner. I was literally eating it by the spoonful. Not salty at all, just unbelievably delicious.Customers kept coming in nonstop. This place is really doing so well!
September 27 · jhs211Bapdoduk truly lives up to its name. Both the soy-marinated crab and the grilled mackerel were outstanding. The crab was fresh, savory, and packed with flavor. It's the kind of dish that makes you keep reaching for more rice. And the mackerel? Not salty at all, and perfectly cooked. The side dishes and stew were clean and well-balanced, and the spicy squid with rice disappeared in seconds. On top of that, the service was super warm and attentive, which made the whole meal even better. I’ll definitely be coming back with my pregnant wife. She loved it too.
September 19 · Baruch KJust go!!!This place is it!!!Okay, if you’re looking for a home meal type of a place I highly recommend here. I went several times and it’s becoming my go-to Korean food restaurant. Honestly it’s not fancy, BUT the food and service outshines everything else! Even the choice of background music is great-nostalgic oldies! Some of my favorite dishes they bundled as a set menu. You can’t beat the value! None set menu items are delicious as well. I recommend the jaeyook if you are a meat person, and byeonguh jorim if you’re fish person. The fish katsu is also excellent! Fyi their signature menu is soy mainated crabs and they are perfectly seasoned! Not only are the food tasty but the service is also excellent. It’s one of those eat good feel good place. Give it a try!
September 19 · Rosa SonBapdoduk is hands down the best Korean soul food spot in the Palisades Park area. No fancy interior, no artisanal plates or pretentious touches — just solid (actually, beyond solid) Korean food at approachable prices.Their signature dish, the soy-marinated raw crab, is incredibly flavorful — I’m still salivating just thinking about it. I also had the grilled mackerel, cooked to absolute perfection, and the spicy fish roe stew (part of the “Papa’s Combo”). These three dishes complemented each other beautifully and easily fed two hungry adults. All of that for just $54 — an incredible value.Service was equally impressive. The male server was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable, and the food came out surprisingly fast — definitely an A+ on that front.Just be sure to avoid arriving between 3:30–4:30 PM, which is their break time. This place has officially earned a once-a-month visit from me.
July 13 · Richard YuAhgujjim is really good! The portion is good enough for 2-3 people.
September 03 · MandyIf you’re in New Jersey and craving authentic Korean flavors, this place is a hidden gem! I visited New Jersey from Virginia. I tried the spicy braised monkfish (Agujjim) and it was absolutely amazing—so flavorful, rich, and perfectly spicy. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to eat extra bowls of rice because every bite goes so well together. Definitely a must-try for anyone who loves bold and delicious Korean food
