BierWax Introduce
In a city filled with countless bars, BierWax stands out as a truly unique and inviting destination. It’s more than just a place to grab a drink; it’s a vinyl record bar, a concept that originated in Japan as a "Jazz Kissa" and has been beautifully reinterpreted for a Brooklyn audience. At its core, BierWax is a sanctuary for both music aficionados and craft beer lovers, seamlessly blending two passions into one cohesive and captivating experience. With an extensive collection of over 5,000 vinyl records, it provides a backdrop of expertly curated music that is meant to be listened to and appreciated, not just heard as background noise. The bar's atmosphere is a testament to this philosophy, creating a space that feels both relaxed and intentional.
The establishment, which proudly identifies as Black-owned and Latino-owned, fosters a sense of community and inclusivity that is often hard to find. The bar’s mission is to be a welcoming space for everyone, and this is reflected in its diverse clientele and friendly staff. Patrons often remark on the comfortable and easy-going vibe, noting that it's a place where they feel a genuine sense of belonging. The music selection is a highlight, with a resident DJ often spinning an eclectic mix of genres, from hip-hop and funk to salsa, merengue, and R&B. The music is played at a moderate volume, allowing for conversation without needing to shout, which is a rare and valued quality in a New York City bar.
BierWax is the brainchild of passionate collectors and connoisseurs who wanted to create a space that celebrates the integrity of sound and the art of vinyl. The carefully curated selection of music is a point of pride, and the bar's "no requests please" policy is not out of snobbery, but rather a reflection of the sheer size of the collection and the desire to let the DJs showcase their expertise. This dedication to quality extends to the drink menu, which features a thoughtful selection of craft beer, cocktails, and wine. The combination of great drinks, an amazing soundtrack, and a genuinely friendly atmosphere makes BierWax a beloved local haunt and a must-visit for tourists looking for an authentic Brooklyn experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As the rise of craft beer spots are still coming up I can honestly say this is the FIRST place that I actually felt comfortable because there was a mix of diversity which I don’t see much of in other places and made me feel as we weren’t alone for once! This place is awesome from the vinyls they were playing to the beer/cider selection that they have on tap as well as having cans available. They also have art up for sale and few artist that I know of as well. Nothing but good vibes! Can’t wait to visit again.
June 27 · Krammer AvillanA very comfortable place to relax and have a few Beers or drinks with friends. The atmosphere is easy going with great music selection played is moderate tones so your not speaking over the music. The yard is great for groups to gather, talk. The bartenders Antonio and Ari are super attentive. It’s become a favorite spot to relax.
July 03 · Scafford Simmonds JrTop notch spot! Vinyl, great beer and cocktails…let’s roll! I will definitely be back. Such a vibe there.
June 03 · John KihlmireReally a fan of Bierwax and all the cool options on tap. Chris, the owner is very kind and hospitable while being a fountain of knowledge about all local craft breweries and in house beer options—which they have a lot of! I come here to spend many hours editing on my laptop and have always felt at home. I’ve also met some DJ’s here and have frequently been exposed to new music. Vinyl is indeed the plural of vinyl. Shine on you bright gem.
May 27 · Fred .CataneseOne of the best places on Vanderbilt and unique spot for the entire city because of their beer list, staff knowledge of the beers, and then the music is always solid whether a DJ at night or something is on during the day. Summer is great because they set up so much seating out front for open streets but also a nice back garden. If you aren’t a big beer person they do make good cocktails too!Highly recommend making this place a go to spot.
