BOYFRIEND co-op Introduce
In a city as diverse and dynamic as New York, finding a space that truly feels like home is a special discovery. BOYFRIEND co-op, located in Brooklyn, is exactly that. It's not just a bar or a cafe; it's a vibrant and inclusive hub that identifies as a lesbian-owned and queer-owned cooperative. The space is a brilliant blend of a coffee shop by day and a trendy bar by night, offering a unique and versatile experience for the community. The founders have successfully created a space that is both "a coffee & cocktail cooperative for gay gals & their pals," as their tagline suggests, and a welcoming place for everyone who respects their mission.
The atmosphere is a key highlight, with one customer describing it as having "a perfect blend of Brooklyn edge and Italian charm, cool, cozy, and effortlessly welcoming." The decor is a major draw, with "eclectic furniture and moody palette" and "adorable... photo-worthy" corners. This thoughtful design creates an environment that is equally suitable for a solo work session on a laptop, a first date, or a group hangout. The bar's commitment to community is clear, not only in its mission to be a safe space but also in its business model as a co-op, where both workers and consumers can become members and have a say in the business's direction.
BOYFRIEND co-op is conveniently located at 1157 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA. September 08 · nikkiBoyfriend is already my new favorite café/bar in Brooklyn. The décor is absolutely adorable—every corner is photo-worthy. It’s super spacious, perfect for group hangouts, dates, and solo time working on a laptop or reading a book. Their coffee is top-notch-- the cardamom rose latte is a must yum!! Their cocktails are well-crafted and actually taste as good as they look. Drink and food prices are affordable.
April 21 · Ahmed ShaheenFirst of all, the space is so openly inclusive and queer, I felt at home straight away. The space is massive with plenty of corners to get some quiet time to yourself while reading a book. The decor is to die for. I am drawn to the illustrations and art that is all over the place. The drinks are also very well thought out and gorgeous! I have yet to join any of their events, but everything seems to be fun and entertaining! They also carry my favourite beer brand, Back Home!
June 24 · KenziSuch a cool spot - the first cooperatively run cafe, bar, and event space in NYC! Queer run, affordable, and witchy vibes. The cocktails were delicious and the decor creates an inviting atmosphere. I love it and can't wait to come back!
