Brooklyn French Bakers Introduce
Introduction / Overview
New Yorkers are constantly on the hunt for that perfect, authentic taste of international cuisine right here in the boroughs, and for French pastries, many locals have found their go-to spot in Brooklyn French Bakers (BFB). Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, this is more than just a bakery; it is a true French boulangerie-pâtisserie dedicated to bringing the time-honored traditions of French baking to the neighborhood. Founded in January 2022 by three French individuals who met in Brooklyn and shared a passion for gourmet cuisine, BFB quickly established itself as a local favorite.
The philosophy at Brooklyn French Bakers revolves around generous, beautiful, and balanced gourmet creations. They meticulously honor French tradition while incorporating local ingredients, ensuring a commitment to quality and freshness that shines through in every bite. Their dedication to the craft has even earned them recognition, winning first place from the Public and third from the Jury in a 2025 competition. This commitment makes BFB an essential stop for anyone in the New York area seeking an exceptional, authentic French baked good.
The owners—a former banker turned pastry chef, an engineer who mastered sourdough during the pandemic, and a chemist focused on flavor combinations—bring a unique blend of scientific precision and artistic passion to their work. They aim for their bread and pastries to be an expression of joy, love, and community, fostering a strong local following. Customer reviews consistently rave about the quality of their items, particularly highlighting the 'scrumptious' croissants, often described as 'crispy, buttery, and flaky perfection.' The bakery’s success is built on this foundation of high-quality, artisanal production and a commitment to delicious, seasonal, and affordable products. They also express a sensitivity to environmental concerns, aiming to be as zero-waste as possible and using recyclable packaging for deliveries.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The best addition to the neighborhood in years. It’s such a treat to have some of the most delicious croissants, sourdough loaves and baguettes in New York just around the corner. The real star though is the puff brioche - one of our favorite things to bring to dinner or brunch with friends (or to devour ourselves over the course of a weekend). It’s light, fluffy, buttery and sweet and I’ll miss it every day when we move.
November 13 · Caroline DuffyI would really like to be a gatekeeper and not let people know how good the croissants are here! Omg!!! They are just so scrumptious. Crispy, buttery and flaky perfection. We tried the regular croissant, chocolate croissant and we even tried the coconut macaroons. We were impressed.
July 20 · Rupal SikdarWe heard about this bakery on YouTube and learned they were winners of the 2023 NY’s best croissant competition. We made sure to visit them during our trip 😁Really nice staff and cute store in Brooklyn. To be fair, we didn’t try their plain croissants that earned win, instead we decided to go for the Chocolate croissant and Almond croissant, the latter being my favorite type. The chocolate croissant had amazing texture and was great, but it was missing the buttery flavor, one looks for in a croissant. Maybe I just couldn’t taste it - it was a really cold day. The almost croissant wasn’t quite on par with other almond croissants that I’ve tried before.I really wanted this place to be a 5-star bakery, but based on what I tried I can’t give more than 4 stars.
December 12 · Arashk Mahjoubi AmineBest croissants in nyc. Very authentic and amazing staff
September 09 · Jawad MourabetPro tip: Be early. Learned that lesson the hard way as they were out of regular croissants by 11 on a Sunday. But the chocolate one was so good! I can see why this place is rated so well. It was the perfect combo of crispy, buttery crust and soft, chewy goodness inside. Hands down this may be the best chocolate croissant I have had in NYC so far.
