What is Worth Choosing: The Authentic Brick Oven Experience
Choosing Brooklyn's Brick Oven Pizzeria is a decision to embrace tradition, quality, and a truly old-school dining experience, which is increasingly rare in the New Jersey food scene.
The Authenticity Factor (The Crust and The Cheese): For pizza aficionados in New Jersey, the coal or open-fire Brick Oven is the key differentiator. This cooking method at extremely high temperatures is what gives the crust its signature characteristics: a perfect char, a chewy-yet-airy texture, and an authentic, slightly smoky flavor that cannot be replicated in a standard pizza oven. Furthermore, the commitment to making Homemade Mozzarella in-house provides an unparalleled freshness and creamy texture that elevates the entire pie, making this a true local specialty worth seeking out.
A True Comfort Food Vibe: Customers consistently describe the experience as a "walk down memory lane" and akin to "grandma’s cooking." The atmosphere is Casual and Cozy, often accompanied by classic music, creating a warm and welcoming environment. If a diner is looking for a genuine, no-frills, old-school Italian-American meal that prioritizes flavor and tradition over modern gimmicks, this is the destination.
The Simple Menu, Done Right: In a culinary landscape cluttered with exotic toppings and fusion concepts, Brooklyn's stands out by focusing on the basics: the perfect balance of quality dough, tangy Imported Italian Tomatoes, and creamy, fresh cheese. This simplicity ensures that the inherent quality of the ingredients shines through, making even a basic Cheese Ravioli ($7.50) or a Personal Calzone ($6.50) a satisfying and flavorful choice.
Embracing the Old-School Charm (Cash-Only Reminder): The Cash-only policy is a deliberate aspect of the restaurant's old-school charm. While it requires a bit of planning, local patrons often view it as a small concession for a taste of authentic history and a nod to a traditional business model. The excellent service, quality food, and unique atmosphere make it a favorite for College students, Groups, and those looking for a Fast service option that still feels homemade. This Hackensack pizzeria provides a slice of genuine Brooklyn pizza tradition right here in New Jersey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The pizza dough is perfect- a bit chewy yet airy, and thin. My husband is born and raised in Brooklyn and he loves it!The ingredients are fresh, especially the cheese which is claimed to be “made in house whole milk”.The place is cash only and has a very cute vibe. Will come back!
August 02 · Roxy HoBrooklyn’s Coal Brick Oven is a walk down memory lane. Especially with all the Frank Sinatra’s Jazz music. If you’re looking for fancy, gourmet-style pizza with exotic toppings, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want a true, old-school NYC neighborhood pizzeria—the kind that feels like grandma’s cooking, made to feed and comfort you—then you’re in the right spot.Everything here is authentic, from the homemade cheese to the perfectly charred crust, just the way it should be. The only downside? It’s cash only. But for a place with this kind of history and tradition, I get it—it’s part of the charm of an OG establishment.Oh, and by the way, every BCA friend I know says they come here all the time. That should tell you something!
February 23 · Mark LingMy daughter loves this place I do too. The food is delicious and the service is great. Cash onlyOnly wish they had the typical Cesar Dressing I was there the day before and order a Cesar Salad and it tasted like Italian Dressing it wasn’t bad just was in the mood for a Cesar Salad w typical white creamy Cesar Dressing. The waiter assured me it was Cesar Dressing. I won’t argue w him maybe he is right just not the kind I’m use to. Definitely going back prices are great too.
August 08 · Gloria MontoyaI’m a frequent customer here, but after my last visit, I won’t be returning. I came in craving pizza and calamari and left completely traumatized. While the pizza was fine — even though they got the order wrong — the real issue was with the calamari appetizer. Toward the end of eating it, my pregnant wife found a worm tangled up with the squid. Absolutely unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about the restaurant’s quality control and food safety standards. If they can’t even keep worms out of their seafood, I don't want to imagine what the kitchen looks like.I immediately called and received a follow-up text from the manager, who assured me they would report the issue and photo to the owner and follow up with me. It's been almost a week, and I have yet to receive any call or acknowledgment.Given the complete disregard for customer safety and the lack of accountability, I will never be coming back — and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.
April 26 · Anthony RodriguezFirst time dining and we really enjoyed it. Pizza was delicious - we shared red and white pizzas and garlic bread. Easy parking in their parking lot. We went early, around 5 on a Saturday, and we were seated right away. Little bit of a wait for the food to come out but iy was tasty. They are family friendly but did not offer any crayons/coloring. Not a big deal since we usually bring something but could be nice to do in the future for families. Classic pizzeria atmosphere with red checked tablecloths, stone walls, very cozy feel. Definitely want to return, especially for special occasions.
