★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Simplistic and delicious. I crave Korean food and was pleased to come across Gunbae on the lower west side. We ordered japchae with veggies and tofu bibimbap, along with banchan - it was an absolute perfect lunch! Service was friendly, attentive and food came out quick. We came on a Wednesday at noon when they opened without a reservation & we were seated right away.
August 16 · Danielle WWe visited this well-maintained restaurant for dinner on a Thursday night. It was quite busy, with most tables displaying reserved signs. Despite the crowd, the layout was thoughtfully spaced, so it didn’t feel overcrowded. I appreciated the bench design with built-in storage—it was convenient for stowing our belongings. The BBQ was flavorful, especially the spiced pork belly, though the portion sizes were on the smaller side. A staff member handled the grilling for us and cooked the meat perfectly. We especially enjoyed the side dishes, and the waitstaff were happy to provide refills when we asked. Overall, it was a great experience—we just wish the portions were a bit more generous.
April 23 · H HTraditional Korean fare in downtown NYC. Comes with free condiments to give you a good starter before the main course comes about. Soup abit blend and the taste of the food have definitely deviated from the traditional Korean fare.Atmosphere is great for a get together for sure.
August 10 · Jonathan LamAbsolutely stellar Korean BBQ experience at Gunbae! The food was delicious and fresh, but what really stood out was the impeccable service. Michael was incredibly attentive and friendly, and Jose was super helpful throughout our meal. Highly recommend — can’t wait to come back!
July 14 · Hao WeinmannHad a terrible experience while dining here. I was really excited to try this restaurant out after seeing the wide variety on the menu. However, i was hesitant to after seeing the B health review on the door. The servers were inattentive to me and my friends. We constantly had to get their attention to place our order, ask for water/refills, and after receiving our order they didn’t check up on us once. The food itself was decent but the service was horrible. They weren’t even that busy to ignore us. For that reason I wouldn’t come back. We were fed up to the point where when we were ready to pay and leave it took them over 15 mins to get the check from us so we had to get up and go to the front ourselves. I wouldn’t go back here again.
