This is a Japanese Wagyu shabu restaurant, that I visited with friends. Located in the heart of Flushing NY. This restaurant is some what new however the decor looks a bit on the worn side. The floor was pretty slippery for some odd reason. We were given a seat on the second floor. The menu came in three tiers: silver, gold, and diamond. We chose the gold tier as it offered us in our opinion the best value. Our waitress was pretty friendly, however the staff was definitely not attentive. We had to ask for our used or empty plates to be removed on several occasions. The layout of the restaurant was also very clumsy. The main drinks station is on the first floor, which meant we had to climb the stairs back and forth several times. The food was the saving grace as they do offer quite a nice variety of Wagyu Beef and seafood. We had several servings of A5 Japanese Wagyu beef and other meats. We also ate a variety of seafood such as lobster, clams, scallops and other types of seafood.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place because it is quite a bit expensive. We paid with tips and tax $100 per person. I feel like the operations of the restaurant needs to be improved greatly. - Scott Qiu

What is Worth Choosing at Cafe Pobeda

When visiting Cafe Pobeda, you are presented with a magnificent array of authentic Uzbeki and Halal options. The menu’s strengths lie in its adherence to traditional recipes and the quality of its specialized offerings. For first-time visitors or loyal patrons alike, there are several dishes that consistently stand out and are highly recommended.

The restaurant's reputation is built upon its signature dishes. The Fried Fish Sazani (Rybá Sazán Zhárenyiy) is a must-try, often highlighted by customers as a favorite. This golden-fried sazani fish, served perfectly garnished, showcases the kitchen's talent for handling seafood while maintaining a delicious, crispy texture. Similarly, the Buffalo Fish (Rybá Bafoló) is another popular seafood selection for those seeking an authentic and flavorful fish entrée.

However, a trip to an Uzbek restaurant wouldn’t be complete without sampling the Central Asian staples. The Pilaf (Plov), often considered the national dish of Uzbekistan, is a top choice. This fragrant rice dish is slow-cooked with tender meat (Halal beef and/or lamb, depending on the day), carrots, chickpeas, and a blend of aromatic spices, creating a comforting and substantial meal. It is frequently served as a full portion that includes a side of Uzbek bread (Non) and a fresh salad, offering excellent value and a true taste of home for many.

Meat lovers will also revel in the selection of Shish-kebabs (Shashlyki). Cooked on skewers over an open flame, the Lamb Leg and Ground Beef (Lyulya) kebabs are succulent and expertly seasoned. These are a great choice for those seeking smoky, grilled perfection. Pair any of the main courses with a traditional Uzbek soup, like Shurpa (a hearty beef, chickpea, and potato stew) or Mastava (Uzbek rice soup), for a complete, traditional meal.

Finally, don't overlook the side dishes and desserts. The fresh, tangy salads like Achuchuk (tomatoes, red onion, hot pepper) and the freshly baked Uzbek Bread are the perfect accompaniments to the richer main courses. Conclude your feast with a piece of Honey Cake (Medovik) or Napoleon Cake for a sweet, satisfying finish. Cafe Pobeda truly offers a rich, diverse, and high-quality menu that promises to satisfy any craving for authentic Central Asian and Halal-friendly dining in Brooklyn. Its unique position as a leading Halal seafood and Uzbeki restaurant makes it an indispensable destination for food enthusiasts across New York City.
