★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you’re looking for soul food that feels like it came straight out of grandma’s kitchen, this is it. I ordered the turkey wings with mac & cheese and cabbage, and let me tell you—those turkey wings hitttttt. The portion sizes are generous (so much that I couldn’t even finish mine), which means I get to look forward to leftovers tomorrow. Definitely worth every penny. What made the experience even better was the staff. Kim, Bernice, and Nana treated us like family. We weren’t just customers, we were sitting, talking, and laughing as if we were at home in a southern-style kitchen. That kind of warmth and hospitality is rare, and it really made the meal special.Between the incredible food and the welcoming atmosphere, this spot is a gem. I’ll definitely be back!
September 19 · Elizabeth AmadizReview update/As you can see by my originally review I was hyped. I got home and saw that zi didn’t get the BBQ sauce I requested many times. I paid $40 and was absolutely SHOCKED at the small portion size. As for flavor I like the Mac and cheese bur everything else had too much salt. The ladies there are amazing but I wouldn’t buy again.I posted pics of the food at the restaurant and then what $40 got me when I finally opened up my bag at home.—————————————-Ok hold up ✋✋✋✋First time calling and first time coming here and LET 👏 ME 👏 SAY 👏 THIS👏The service from Nana, Bernice, Shakira was top notch……I mean I couldn’t stop talking about. They made it clear you arrive at 9:59 and they close at 10pm and they will take care of you.I almost don’t want to rate them so high so it don’t be getting packed in here LolBut highly recommend. Quality service and even at night food looks fresh and the smell will have you ordering way more than you were planning to.5 ✨✨✨✨✨
September 04 · Stephanie CartagenaNana the waitress was so nice and attentive. Bernice the cook, kudos to her the food was immaculate my first time here and I ate all my food!! It was amazing and fresh. Kim the manager was also so nice and made sure we were taken care of. Definitely would recommend this place and definitely coming back.
September 19 · C TI came in with a group of 9. There was no line! But about 5 or 6 people came in right after us and they STAYED busy! The food came out super fast, and everyone liked their food!!! We got mac n cheese, yams, greens, catfish, cornbread, chicken, & black eye peas! All delish!!! The only downside was the peach cobbler was crust-less 😕 it was a bowl of peaches 🤷🏾♀️ flavor was ok. The young lady that worked the register was super friendly and helpful! We all agreed we would come back
September 26 · Jayd ShawIm sitting at Ihop waiting for my food because today was my first time walking into Cornbread and I just drove 2 hrs. I wanted to use the bathroom before ordering and they refused to let me use the bathroom first. The food and menu looked good but I had to go to the bathroom first. I WILL not support a business that treats humans so disrespectfully! They think its ok to treat people poorly if they suspect they are poor or homeless. Ive been both but not today. Today I live in a nice place, got a great job and drive a nice car but Ill never forget the streets I came from and how awful people treat humans down on their luck. They will NEVER get my business,EVER!!! DO BETTER. EVEN IF I was not gonna buy food they should let people use a bathroom. They lucky I didnt crap on their sidewalk. I could afford to pay the ticket and woulda.
October 02 · JoAnna ShawStraight up foodies and flavor enthusiasts! Prepare your taste buds for a soulful journey through the heart of New Jersey, where hospitality meets mouthwatering cuisine. My recent visit to Newark's gem of a restaurant left me utterly speechless and completely satisfied. As I placed my order with the courteous cashier, I could sense the passion and dedication that went into every dish. And oh, the food! Each bite was a symphony of flavors, a tribute to the rich traditions of soulful cooking. From the tender fried chicken to the decadent macaroni and, every morsel was a delightful revelation. But the true star of the show was the impeccable service. The gentleman who served my meal did so with an air of grace and genuine care, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. I urge you, dear reader, to embark on your own culinary adventure and discover the magic that awaits you in Newark's best-kept secret. You won't be disappointed. So, why wait? Treat yourself to an unforgettable dining experience and indulge in the phenomenal offerings of this soul food haven. Trust me, it's a journey worth taking. Enjoy!
October 18 · Dr. Reynaldo. EvangelistaThis is my first time here and the food is absolutely delicious. Had an issue with, and it was resolved immediately. Thank you, Bernice, Za’Myah, and Hassan for providing top-notch service. Very surprisingly it was quite affordable. We have five fish, mac & cheese, collard greens, black-eyed peas, and chicken for under $35. And then we got the Southern Twang beverage that topped it off perfect!
October 11 · Kim QuickThis food smelled and tasted so good I forgot to take a picture before we started eating! Mike and Nana (I hope I’m spelling her name right) were so enthusiastic and inviting, from the moment we stepped through the door. The catfish was HOT, fresh out the fryer, the mac & cheese was amazing and the cornbread was too! Coming from Atlanta, this was a great first stop for some food and we already agreed to order more tomorrow. Thank you Cornbread!! 🤎
