The Mulberry Introduce
Tucked away in the vibrant and fashionable SoHo neighborhood, The Mulberry stands out as a unique destination for those seeking an intimate and sophisticated nightlife experience in New York City. This is not your typical high-energy, pulsing nightclub; instead, it positions itself as a cozy and trendy lounge, a place where conversation flows as smoothly as the expertly crafted cocktails. The Mulberry offers a refreshing alternative to the overwhelming club scene, providing a more refined and personal setting for a night out. It's a place designed for genuine connection and enjoyment, where the ambiance is as carefully curated as the drink menu.
The moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of relaxed elegance. The atmosphere is both cozy and trendy, striking a perfect balance between comfort and style. The lighting is low, the seating is comfortable, and the decor contributes to a warm, inviting environment. This deliberate design choice makes The Mulberry an ideal spot for a variety of occasions, whether it's a first date, a celebratory get-together with a group of friends, or a solo evening of unwinding. The lounge prides itself on its welcoming vibe, catering to a diverse crowd that includes locals, groups of friends, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, who will find it to be a safe and inclusive space, including a transgender safespace.
At the heart of The Mulberry's appeal is its commitment to exceptional cocktails. The bar staff are known for their skill and creativity, offering a menu that features both classic concoctions and innovative, modern twists. Each drink is a testament to the art of mixology, using quality ingredients to create complex and memorable flavors. While some patrons may have had isolated negative experiences with staff, the consensus from many is that the drink menu is strong, and the overall experience is a positive one. The highlights of the lounge are indeed its great cocktails and the fast service, ensuring that even on a busy night, you won't have to wait long to enjoy your drink.
The Mulberry is more than just a place to get a drink; it's a full sensory experience. While the focus is undeniably on the cocktails, the venue also offers a selection of food, ensuring that you can sustain your evening without having to leave. The availability of food at the bar means you can enjoy a quick bite while sipping on your favorite beverage. The option for table service and seating adds to the comfortable, lounge-like feel, allowing guests to settle in and enjoy their night without feeling rushed. It’s this thoughtful approach to the customer experience that sets The Mulberry apart from other establishments in the city.
The reputation of any establishment is built on the collective experiences of its patrons, and for The Mulberry, the feedback is mixed, but many find it to be a hidden gem. While one person's isolated experience might be disappointing, many other reviews highlight the professional and respectful nature of the door and indoor staff. The doormen, in particular, have been praised for their character and for handling difficult situations with grace and respect, a rare quality in a city known for its tough nightlife scene. This is a crucial point for The Mulberry, as a positive first impression can make all the difference. The fact that the staff is polite and helpful, even when turning people away for legitimate reasons, speaks volumes about the lounge’s character and commitment to maintaining a positive and safe environment for its guests. This attention to detail and a genuinely welcoming attitude make it a standout choice for those in the know.
The cozy and trendy atmosphere, combined with a focus on high-quality cocktails, makes The Mulberry a must-visit for anyone looking for a more laid-back and intimate nightlife experience. It’s a place where you can escape the chaotic energy of the city and settle into a space that feels both stylish and comfortable. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute venue but disappointing experience. The night began with a bizarre comment from the bouncer who, after letting me in, told me “don’t wear that next time.” For reference, I was wearing an outfit that was entirely appropriate and on par with the other guests.Still hoping to enjoy myself, I headed downstairs for a drink with a friend. I asked the bartender for a recommendation. He scoffed, “I only drink martinis,” as though that somehow made him incapable of helping. I ordered a cocktail anyway — “Not that one,” he responded. The drink I ended up with? Made incorrectly. And it cost $30.The whole place feels like it’s trying very hard to be cool, but instead comes off as cold, performative, and unwelcoming. I left quickly. There are too many great bars in this city to waste your time (or your money) here.
August 01 · Lola KThe door staff and the indoor staff are super nice. But I want to talk about the character of the doormen.Once when I visited, they turned away my friend for being too drunk. I told my friend "stand on one foot!" and my friend failed that test immediately, and they very politely pointed it out, offered to let me in, and politely and cogently explained why my friend could not come in.These guys are just as nice when telling someone no as they are when telling people yes. They give honest yes, nos, maybes in a job where it's incredibly tough to be just as nice to the thousandth person as you are to the first. That's character. That's what still matters. In a world where the door is used to create an illusion, this is actually a door trying to make sure they get it right inside. 10/10 bar inside, no notes, but the first impression matters and they nail it.
July 11 · Taylor HillThe place itself is very nice, however my friends and I had a very unpleasant experience due to the service. The manager is very rude and dismissive. Our waitress accidentally spilled a tray full of drinks on us and we got cuts from the glass. The manager never apologized for this situation nor he even addressed what happened. I was really looking forward to visiting this place but left very disappointed.
July 08 · Liliana GonzalezOk, had a different experience than the negative ones. Bouncer was ultra friendly and manager was the same. Talked our way in (like we used to do back in the day when you came to a club with a super long line). Everyone seems to have lost their interpersonal skills. Work the gift of the gab and you’ll be treated well!
May 18 · alex aThis place has a dress code they mention on their website, which does not imply shorts. Regardless, I have been warned by the door person by being told “I’ll let you in this time because you have reservation, but no shorts next time. Interesting. Also, the menu does not list any hard liquor (whisky, gin, vodka etc) for some reason, so you have to have a back and forth with the waitperson and the bar which makes it a hassle to order.
