★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I usually come here to buy HK style milk tea whenever at Tanagram mall, but lately the service has been neglectful. More importantly, the boba is decreasing in quality and is not being cooked enough. This is my third time ordering and the pearls are hard to bite. It's disappointing as I love the tea from this place but don't think I'll order again. Please fix the tapioca pearls and service!
April 03 · Yuki NI’ve been a loyal customer for years, but after my last three visits, I’m officially done with this place.I waited over 30 minutes for a simple egg waffle. During that time, a man—possibly the manager or owner—was loudly yelling at both me and the staff, only making an already chaotic situation worse. He demanded payment in an extremely rude and aggressive way, telling me to “give him the money”. I came here to buy food, not feel like I was being robbed.Right after placing my order, my number was called—only to be told it wasn’t ready. When I asked, he said “3 minutes.” I waited another 20. Why call a number if the order’s not even close to ready? It felt like a complete joke.Second time there, The front counter was no better. The woman working there didn’t speak any English, doesn’t know how to count coins, and spent the entire time yelling at the staff in Chinese, ignoring customers. If you don’t know how to communicate in English or count change, then the front desk is not the right place for you, go back to school. She then handed my order to someone else even though I was standing right there with my receipt. No apology, just more shouting, while a girl standing by had to keep apologizing for her.To top it off, the food isn’t even worth the trouble. The egg waffle was overpriced, glass bottle costs an extra dollar now. The curry fish balls tasted like they were soaked in watered-down curry. And some of the staff looked so young, it raised serious questions—one boy making waffles looked like he was still in middle school. I Will be reporting this. This place has completely fallen apart. It’s disorganized, unprofessional, and frankly embarrassing to witness. I won’t be coming back—and I’ll be warning everyone I know to stay away.
August 29 · Eleni CasaniI am a huge fan of Hong Kong milk teas and egg waffles. I search and eat egg waffles almost every day when I’m visiting Hong Kong and my HK relatives think I’m nuts because for them it’s just a common street snack food they have around them all the time any where. Thus I was very excited to visit Cuppa Tea and try their Hong Kong egg waffle and milk tea for the first time. After searching in the mall for a bit we were about to locate the shop in a corner area and I noticed the decor - Hong Kong street names and signage drawn on the walls, a British Hong Kong replica faux phone booth etc so I had high hopes walking in to order on the self order touch screen - a regular egg waffle and a cold HK Milk Tea in glass bottle. Then after paying with my credit card and holding my receipt waiting for my order my high hopes started to get deflated - I noticed the monitor screen said 45 minutes wait time for an egg waffle (sucks but I’m patient for HK egg waffles), then noticed there was a “Convenience Fee” of .50 cents - what the?!? There was no notice nor explanation of this surprise fee at the ordering kiosk, we also noticed none of the staff nor the manager/owner spoke Cantonese or HK Cantonese yet this is supposed to be an authentic Hong Kong spot?, and the last deflating thing for me is no staff updated any waiting customer on the wait times or asked any waiting customer for their order number or what they were waiting for. All ready orders were called out in Mandarin Chinese and barely called out in English. After over 45mins waiting for our order I asked if my order number was ready in English the young girl replied in English saying she would check. She looks at the bags on the counter and then gave us our order then we proceeded to open the paper bag of egg waffle - it was room temperature and soft. Guess it was ready for a while and sitting around. Our high hopes are now pretty much deflated even before we taste our egg waffle! Now onto the taste test… the room temperature and soft egg waffle texture was not satisfactory- cold, dense, and soft dry cake like texture with no crisp exterior. Taste of vanilla and no egg flavor -mediocre at best. At this point my high hopes are all wiped away. But I’m ready to try their cold Hong Kong milk tea in glass bottle. Take a big sip swirl it in my mouth to get the texture and flavor profile - conclusion for USA standards of HK Milk tea it is Ok not authentic HK Milk tea but average to a tad better. Flavor isn’t the best I’ve had in the states and isn’t as complex as the best I’ve had in NY/NJ but it can pass as decent average in my opinion. So in summary is Cuppa Tea an authentic Hong Kong spot offering authentic eats and HK teas - it is NOT but it is below average for the egg waffle and average for the HK teas. Service and wait times are below average as well. I can’t say I would return anytime soon.Amendment to Cuppa Tea review after their reply:Thank you Cuppa Tea for your response. In all honesty your reply about improving said delays/wait times, bad or non existent basic customer service from your staff, and food seems to be pre-existing issues from prior reviews of customers dated months and years ago - and I read similar replies from you as well. I hope that things will change. One thing I disagree with in your reply is your suggestions to me for a "smoother experience"...I as a customer should have a smooth experience no matter what time I arrive at your establishment, nor should I need to order ahead of time, nor should I have to install an app on my phone to have a smooth experience especially when there was no line, and not packed with customers. I believe you need to sort out the inherent issues and inefficiencies at Cuppa Tea rather then having the customer improve their experience at Cuppa Tea.Lastly, you did not explain your hidden “Convenience Fee” in your reply.
January 27 · Will FongI would get the store a 0 if I could. waited over 30 minutes for a simple drink. All of their ingredients were out of stock, and this girl was on her phone. The whole time when there was a big crowd, she her AirPods in, working really slow and didn’t care. I saw a guy open some package of his teeth. DONT come here. The girl with the AirPods in picked up the orange slices of her hands when there’s a tonga for that. SO UNSANITARY.
September 11 · qingMy previous 5 Stars review: The place is popping! I love how flavorful their Hong Kong-style milk tea is - it makes me feel warm and cozy, especially when served in a glass bottle. I also truly enjoy their limited-edition egg tart waffles as well. Delicious 😋🥹🥹🥹Update:1. The quality of the egg tart waffles has decreased substantially. It is the second time we got this issue. They don’t hit the spot anymore - the filling is different, they aren’t baked well, and they taste like a completely different recipe and execution compared to the egg tarts I bought about two months ago.2. The Signature Hong Kong Milk Tea (Hot) is also not as flavorful anymore and tastes different (did you change the recipe as well???) since maybe a month ago.An owner or a supervisor of the place must to take some action ASAP, to fix the quality of the tea and waffles or you gonna lose so many loyal customers.
